Vincent Zhao claims the production of contract changes without authorization

Vincent Zhao Wenzhou recently was accused of acting like a big shot and rejected to accept the Donnie Yen Chi Tan produced film DUT SHU SUN FUN's work notice. His manager and the production both have issued statements, both sides with their own perspectives. Zhao Wenzhou yesterday attended a press conference with his wife Zhang Danlu to further clarify this issue. At the event Zhao Wenzhou also issued a statement about the production dispute with his own signature at the bottom. Zhao Wenzhou said that recently some media's untrue reporting has already created damage to his his personal social value, solemnly he read the
prepared statement. He said that he dissolved the contract with the production because of the other party's contract content changes without authorization. Zhao Wenzhou's lawyer also issued a statement that any behavior that would damage Zhao Wenzhou's reputation, image and other legal rights would result in legal action.

The statement pointed out that recent reports of Zhao Wenzhou's arrogance were severely untrue and confusing. They not only misdirected the public but also damaged his personal social value. Thus he clarified, first the termination of the collaboration was due to party A, the production team's contract violation and changing the contract content without authorization. Secondly, currently he has returned to Beijing due to party A ripping up the contract and discontinuing the collaboration, thus he no longer needed to continue to stay at the production location. Finally, he wanted to say that everything he has said above was true. If this matter has any new development he will inform everyone.

Anita Yuen discusses contract terms, does not want her husband as co-star

Yesterday Anita Yuen attended a charity event, and when speaking of the recent 'poaching' crisis, she has been viewed as a secret target. It turns out Anita does have interactions with TVB, but unfortunately there have not been any further plans. Anita said: "They come and discuss with me occasionally. I am currently freelance and still haven't decided on anything yet. Aside from the favorable price and attractive script, the co-stars are also very important, must be handsome guys. However, I don't want to co-star with Mr. Cheung (Chilam Cheung) because I already see him day and night. Unless the price really is extremely tempting, I won't do it because we collaborated once before and it did not go well. Even friends who I am too familiar with, it won't be too good either. Just like Jordan Chan, if we shoot argument scenes, we end up not getting along for real."

Anita hopes to create sparks with Felix Wong and does not fear of his 'explosive' personality. She said: "We had several opportunities to collaborate before, I just feel his explosive personality is actually just because he has expectations. I fear sloppy and not serious co-stars the most."

Leo Ku signs HK$80 million 3 year EEG contract, levels off with Nicholas Tse

Since Leo Ku joined EEG in 2009, in just two years he released albums, filmed series, advertisements and public event performances. He has a mountain loaded with jobs, and has already actively earned HK$80 million, very proud achievements. It was said, although Leo still has over a year left in his EEG contract, the company does not want him in others' hands, so are holding on tight to this golden egg. Earlier, EEG already quickly discussed plans for contract renewal with Leo.

According to reliable sources, EEG offered the heavenly price of HK$80 million to Leo for a 3 year contract. This is on the same level as Nicholas Tse's 8 year contract for HK$300 million. It was said EEG promises to strongly promote Leo up for his 4th 'Most Popular Male Singer Award', in which he will catch up to 'Music Principal' Alan Tam's 4th consecutive Pop King award record.

Although there are still 5 more months until the music awards, each record company has already started planning to fully support their artists to get the awards. The battle for 'Most Popular Male and Female Singers' is heated and fierce. As the royalty issues between TVB and the Big 4 have not been settled, Leo has a great chance to win over his opponent Eason Chan, who has not been able to be in the battle even until today.

[Oriental Daily] contacted EEG executive Mani Fok to clarify. She admitted EEG successfully got Leo to renew his contract: "After Leo joined, he has helped EEG earned a lot of money, and won many awards. Before he had a medical condition in his waist bone, and was still willing to take a long hour bus ride to Mainland for work. So the boss (Albert Yeung) really loves him, later we will start a movie where he takes on as the leading actor. The budget is going to be HK$30 million at least, Derek Kwok will be the director."

Mani continued: "In mid-October, Leo will open a concert and this will be his first HK Coliseum Concert since he joined our company. EEG will invest about HK$10 million on the production, and do not hesitate to help him get a start to excell." Leo's AMAZING WORLD - WORLD TOUR CONCERT 2011 will start on October 7th. Leo personally came up with the idea of 'Amazing World' as the concept, HK Coliseum will turn into a theme park.

Charmaine Sheh Signs Per-series Contract, But Not Leaving TVB

It's said Charmaine Sheh leaves TVB for more fame and better career in Mainland. Yesterday she attended to an event and cleared up she is not leaving TVB, just changing a different way to work together. The new contract is 2-years long and she said she won't stay in Mainland more just because she signs the per-series contract.

"In fact it's about the same. I filmed 2 dramas in Mainland last year."

The new contract the actress signed with TVB doesn't include management contract in Mainland. She expressed she is still deciding and the top two priorities would be able to promote her and assist her in films. She said she just wants to develop her careers in different areas.

"Mainland drama and movies are things I want to work on," she said. "TVB producing movies? I don't rule out any collaboration in the future!"

Inside Scoop of Charmaine Sheh’s $18.5 Million House and New Mainland Contract

With her TVB management contract expiring this March, Charmaine Sheh Si Man allegedly decided to sign a contract with a new mainland company valued at over $10 million (HKD). Not wanting to severe all ties with TVB, Charmaine decided to sign a per-series contract with TVB for three years.

An inside source revealed, “The new company managed to secure three grand-production television series for Charmaine to star in. After filming the television version of If You Are the One "非誠勿擾", Charmaine will have the opportunity to film with mainland television Best Actor, Sun Honglei in ancient drama, Cao Cao "曹操". Her third project will be Famous Model "名模". Charmaine will receive $150,000 (Yuan) per episode, which was equivalent to the salary of mainland’s top actresses and higher than Ada Choi Siu Fun and Sheren Tang Shui Man’s filming fees. Charmaine was guaranteed to earn $5 million (HKD) per series. In addition, the new company will launch Charmaine’s career in the mainland film industry. With these contract terms, why wouldn’t she be interested?”

In addition to increasing her wealth by filming in China , Charmaine profited $8 million (HKD) from the sale of her old 1,200 square feet fengshui home in North Point. Perhaps Charmaine was more in a rush to buy than sell a home. Earlier in the year, she purchased a $18.5 million (HKD) 1,600 square feet home at Dynasty Heights in Beacon Hill .

Giving Face to TVB

Since many actors and actresses with a wide audience following were leaving TVB, the company was eager to have Charmaine remain. “TVB was very generous towards Charmaine and offered good contract renewal terms. However, the mainland production company made an even better offer. If she let go of this opportunity, Charmaine was concerned that it will not come again. In the end, Charmaine decided not to renew her management contract with TVB,” a source close to Charmaine revealed.

An inside source at TVB described Charmaine’s new per-series contract terms, “Each year, Charmaine will film thirty episodes for TVB. If the episode quota can not be met within a year, then the contract will be automatically extended. TVB wanted to hold on to Charmaine and not let her work for another television studio!”

According to market sources, I-Cable will be awarded a free television license by the Broadcasting Authority. Since I-Cable produces the majority of its own programs, it will present a challenge to TVB, who also produces its own programs. TVB’s former monopolization of the Hong Kong television market may be challenged. Losing many of its leading actors and actresses, TVB was very determined to retain Charmaine.

Charmaine Sheh Purchased $18.5 Million New Home

Turning from TVB Best Actress to mainland leading lady, Charmaine’s wealth increased immensely. At the end of last year, Charmaine sold her fengshui home in North Point for $13.68 million (HKD), profiting $8.86 million (HKD) from the sale! Charmaine bought the house in 2003, during the SARs outbreak at a price of $5 million (HKD).

Despite the quieter real estate market recently, Charmaine was not afraid to purchase property. She bought a new 1,600 square foot apartment at Dynasty Heights for $18.5 million (HKD). At the end of January, Charmaine signed a provisional purchase agreement. Although the surroundings at the new home did not compare with Charmaine’s former North Point location, she preferred privacy of the mountainous surroundings at Dynasty Heights .

Located in Beacon Hill in Kowloon Tong, the Dynasty Heights residential complex included 22 buildings, which were grouped into the Tropicana, Skylodge, and Dynasty Heights Villas residences. The size of the apartments ranged from 816 to 1,564 square feet in size. The Dynasty Heights Villas were located at the rear position on the highest terrain with terraces and some units overlooking sea views. The estate grounds also included a 200,000 square feet clubhouse, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, golf courses, and wine cellars.

Beacon Hill is a luxury residential area in Kowloon Tong area. Dynasty Heights was located closer to the hillside and offered a high degree of privacy, hence welcomed by celebrities. In 2008, Fiona Sit Hiu Kei purchased a connected unit for $11.3 million (HKD).

Nicholas Tse renews EEG contract 8 years for HK$300 million

When Nicholas Tse debuted in EEG, he had had endless collaborations with the company. Recently, it was rumored that Nic has intentions to leave the company and to avoid stirring up unnecessary speculations, so both sides can be at ease, not only did he not say anything, but he signed an 8 year contract for the sky-high price of HK$300 million. Last week, he renewed his contract with EEG and everyone is happy now!

Yesterday Nic appeared at an event by the film and advertising company "PO", and was asked about the contract renewal. He laughed: "Last week I signed it already. (It was said you are starting your own company?) I don't do management, very afraid to fall out with someone. I can tell you now that 99% I am not interested. Also, EEG treats me well."

When speaking of Cecilia involved in a traffic accident a few days ago, Nic calmly responded: "Her personality is she will worry about other people's feelings first, so she's very worried about that elderly man. (Help him pay for his medical expenses?) She will."

Wong He Plans to Be A Reporter When Contract Ends

Would Wong He be the first artist to become a reporter?

The TVB actor attended to the press conference of documentary "Three Gorges" yesterday. Talked about when their shooting was interrupted by the police, he"blamed" himself for dressing like a news reporter at that time.

"It's my fault. I didn't want viewers to mistake this program as a travel show, so I wore a tie and a jacket with a company logo on it."

He disclosed a female colleague was scared and cried when they were brought to the police station for investigation. A funny thing was, the police eventually recognized him and they asked him for photographs and autographs.

"I never took pictures with anyone in the police station," he said.

The 43-year-old's per-drama contract with TVB ends this September and he said no one has approached him to talk about renewing it. He does have other plans in mind.

"Maybe I could transfer to the variety show department, even the news department, since everyone thought I was a reporter there."

Media Asia Interested in Signing Bosco Wong Once His TVB Contract Expires?

Following Charmaine Sheh Si Man, it was revealed that several other TVB artists, such as Bernice Liu Bik Yee and Joe Ma Tak Chung, intend to leave the company as well. Although Bosco Wong Chung Chak’s contract will not expire until two years later, he has been hotly pursued by other companies. Media Asia expressed their interest and a mainland company was interested in signing him as well.

Allegedly, Bosco was more interested in collaborating with Media Asia, who had their eye on him for a long time. In 2008, Media Asia signed a music contract with Bosco. Media Asia’s intent was to develop a close relationship with Bosco and sign him as an artist once his TVB contract expires. Allegedly, Peter Lam already discussed his terms with Bosco, promising to establish Bosco’s position in the music industry and elevate him to a leading actor in the film industry. Since Bosco was interested in developing his film career , Media Asia had the clout to do so. Once Bosco’s contract expires in two-and-a-half years, it may be possible that he will star in films with Andy Lau Tak Wah.

Currently filming Sneak Attack "潛行狙擊", Bosco responded to inquiries regarding Media Asia’s interest in signing him, “I still have many years left in my TVB contract. I have not been thinking about this matter.”

Reporters contacted Media Asia executive, Chan Chi Kong, as to whether the company was interested in signing Bosco once his TVB contract expires. Mr. Chan said, “All along, Media Asia believes that Bosco has a bright future. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have signed him as recording artist. We are unclear as to when his TVB contract will expire. If he decides not to renew his TVB contract, we are definitely interested in strengthening our collaboration. His looks, acting, and singing skills are quite good and there should be many more opportunities for further development.”

When reporters contacted TVB executive, Virginia Lok Yi Ling, she sounded surprised. “What? Bosco Wong still has a lengthy contract at TVB! Is this promotion for his music album? His new songs have been airing on the radio.”

Roger Kwok's TVB contract hasn't expired yet, but already renewed it

Roger Kwok will be heading to Mainland mid-April to shoot a Mainland TV series. Yesterday during an interview, Roger said that shooting will take 1.5 months, he'll be back in Hong Kong in June. It was rumored that this time when Roger goes to Mainland, it 'foreshadows' that he's leaving TVB. Asked if he's taking the lead in leaving TVB? Roger said that he shoots Mainland series every year, he still has a TVB contract for over a year, but he already renewed it ahead of time.

Roger joked: "After a blind date, still have to get a deeper understanding, I won't make a decision that quickly. The banquet price, we still haven't discussed yet." He expressed that he won't be too fierce about a pay raise, just follow the inflation. As his daughter is about to come into this world, he will need milk money, TVB is also very understanding regarding this issue. Although Mainland offers high salaries, TVB series have the promotion value and also the collaboration is enjoyable." He laughed and said if he's leading the contract renewals, then colleagues don't follow, should really think it over and consider.

[NEWS] Super Junior-M In Taiwan To Promote “Perfection”, SM Entertainment Stresses There Was No Breach In Contract

Super Junior’s sub-group Super Junior-M who came to promote their new Mandarin mini-album, held a press conference after reaching Taipei on the 24th. However, it was eight*missing one, as Chinese member Zhou Mi had problems with his Visa. Super Junior-M’s Taiwanese agency, Fulong Agency, also issued a statement in regards to the previous day’s incident where Taiwan concert organizers wanted to file a lawsuit. They expressed that initially, the Korean agency did not directly sign the contract and at that time, the activities in Taiwan were done according to the terms in the contract.

You could say that Super Junior-M’s schedule is filled, although there is one less person. However, when they arrived at the press conference, they were still teasing and singing. Moreover, their record company arranged to have the Japanese LOVE Bunny on stage, in lieu of the Year of the Rabbit. But the LOVE Bunny could have been too nervous and accidentally fell down. Super Junior-M members hurriedly rushed to help it up, and became the lucky “Rabbit Fans.” Siwon, who was a Rabbit**, looked especially happy and revealed that Sungmin’s nickname was “Bunny”. The group of men held the auspicious couplets and took a photo with the LOVE Bunny. As usual, they used Mandarin and said that they would work hard.

In addition, with regards to the incident on the 23rd where the concert organizers wanted to sue Super Junior, their agency SM Entertainment made a statement through the Taiwanese agency, Fulong. They emphasised that SM Entertainment initally gave authority “KO Entertainment”, a Korean company. They also mentioned about the contract with HS Media, with regards to yesterday’s incident. At that time, it was already stated that one member may be unable to participate and perform. Moreover, last month’s contract between the Korean parties and the organizers did not have a clause that said, “No performance in Taiwan for six months.” Also, the contract for Super Junior’s third concert tour was already signed with Taiwan organizer, Super Dome, in mid last year. SM Entertainment once again emphasised that there was no breach of contract, and other related violations.

After completing their short half-day promotional activites, Super Junior-M is scheduled to take Flight number BR217 to leave Taiwan at 9.30 AM on the 25th. Two weeks after, Super Junior would hold their third concert tour for 3 days at Taipei Arena.

*There are eight members in Super Junior-M. This was a reference to the number of members.
**It means that he was born in the lunar Year of the Rabbit.

Wu Chun drops out of Absolute Boyfriend and remains without contract

It's recently been revealed that Wu Chun's contracts with HIM and Comic had expired at the end of last year and there are no signs of him renewing the contracts after two months. He has stated before that the reason he would stop singing would be for his father. While there have still been promotions for a Fahrenheit album release, all the work Wu Chun has done for it was merely to fill the last of the requirements of his contract.

It has also been leaked that Wu Chun has dropped out of both his upcoming series (Absolute Boyfriend) and movie (Summer Holiday 2) leading to many speculations of him preparing to leave the entertainment industry. As of present, Wu Chun has expressed when interviewed that he has thought about leaving. For his fans, though, he will not depart rashly. However, he will not be putting his whole heart into the entertainment industry in the future.

In the five years he has been in showbiz, Wu Chun has only been able to take a vacation on New Year each year. This has been making him feel ashamed at the neglect over his own family and has previously been made to think about working less and spending more time taking care of his father. Wu Chun's father also hoped that his son did not have to work so hard and go back to Brunei to led a simple life. Thus, at the end of his contract last year, Wu Chun moved back to Brunei, and has been there since.

On February 13th, the third branch of Wu Chun's fitness gym opened and when he was interviewed then, he finally revealed what he was truly thinking. "I have always said that if I was happy doing what I did, then I would continue. If I wasn't happy, I would return to Brunei. Everyone knows that the entertainment industry isn't the only thing I partake in. The company has discussed renewing the contact with me, but I have not made a decision on my future yet, so I've been pushing it off." Wu Chun also emphasized that Brunei is his true home. Seeing how happy he was at being home, he was asked whether he really hadn't thought about leaving the industry to which he answered, "I do want to a little because I really miss my family. Since coming back home, I have been very happy, but also feel a bit guilty because I didn't take good care of my father in the past and wasn't able to accompany him to the doctors for his back and legs."

Thinking about the past five years, he said, "I originally had a pretty good life, but I also had a sense of accomplishment when living a life where I could take care of myself. At the same time, that satisfaction was cut in half. The half I lost was spending time with my family and my freedom. I actually don't have much confidence in my acting, most of the force that pushed me was from my fans, so I won't speak of quitting so easily. I will continue working, but I require a lot of freedom and will only take on jobs I like." Regarding work in the entertainment industry, he said, "It requires sacrifice. I really cherish everything that I learned each day while working. It will be helpful in all the decisions I make in the future. Even if it will be hard, I will face everything with a positive attitude."

Could this really be the end of Fahrenheit?

Lost 'TV Queen' title, Charmaine Sheh unwilling to sign TVB renewal contract

TVB's big sister Charmaine Sheh's contract with TVB expire in April. There is only two months left, but Charmaine is still unwilling to pick up the pen to sign for a contract renewal. It was said that because Charmaine lost the TV Queen title to Sheren Tang, making her negotiation a failure. For this reason, her contract issue has been dragged until today. No wonder, last month Charmaine's tone suggests that she may go out elsewhere to make more RMB (Chinese Yuan)!

Started off as a Miss HK, Charmaine has already been with TVB for 13 years, among the FaDans she is considered as the 'many productions' actress. Many of her series have received good ratings such as Beyond the Realm of Consciences, Forensic Heroes II, Can't Buy Me Love and more.

However, this 'golden egg' TVB seem to have already taken the initiative in the recent days. Charmaine's TVB management contract will expire in April, and the contract issue was initially already settled half a year ago, but Charmaine wanted to wait until TVB finishes discussing the award results before she decides. Unexpectedly the 'TV Queen' title finally landed on Sheren Tang's hand and she only got a condolence prize 'My Favorite TV Female Character Award', unfolding contract issues for TVB.

Actually with Charmaine's appeal to the Mainland market, it is not a problem if she wanted to head out to develop there. No wonder last month when asked about her TVB contract issues, she admitted that she was discussing with the company about the contract. She also expressed that she wants high quality productions, and hopes that her roles can bring audience a fresh new feeling. However, during a period of time, it is possible that she may head out to Mainland. The main reason is because filming in Mainland renders high rewards. Earlier she accepted to shoot a Mainland series Female Constables, and because of her accident at the airport, she was forced to withdraw from Forensic Heroes III. Fortunately, the recent new TVB boss (Chan Kwok Cheung), new person with new ideas, the contract issue may take a turn for the better.

Also, Bowie Lam won the Asia TV King award earlier in Singapore for his role in Sister of Pearl. The TV King honor was neglected by TVB and although TVB tried to fix it by holding a celebration party for him, Bowie's heart did not remain with them.

Siu Sang and FaDan Leaving and Coming Back

Gallen Lo, Louis Koo, Jessica Hsuan, Maggie Cheung and other first line Siu Sang and FaDans were once TVB's contracted artists, but now they don't have a management contract anymore. Jessica is currently just shooting 1 series per year.

Gallen Lo briefly returned to his 'maternal home', but later signed with a film company and headed back into the Mainland market. He re-married to a Mainland actress and since then remained in Mainland. In 2007, he came back to collaborate with Myolie Wu in When Dogs Fall In Love With Cats. (and 'Born Rich' in 2009)

As for Louis Koo, after his TVB contract expired he went into the film scene. Even his TVB manager Ronnie left the company in order to continue to be his manager. Among the male stars, Louis currently has the most film productions, locally. Since his departure from TVB, he had not returned to 'maternal home' to shoot any series.

Another FaDan, Maggie Cheung put her showbiz career on hiatus 5 years ago because she suffered from thyroid disease (Graves' Disease). In 2008, she recovered and made a come back to host for a TVB program. Later, she took part in several TVB series My Better Half, Beauty Knows No Pain and the most recent Forensic Heroes III, replacing Charmaine Sheh.

Virgina Lok denies Sheren Tang signed a TVB contract

TVB Anniversary Awards 2010 is held this Sunday (12/5). Yesterday it was reported that hot favourite Sheren Tang wanted to be TV Queen, so signed a new contract with TVB, joining the biological sons and daughters.

TVB Production Resources Director (Virgina Lok) attended an event yesterday and denied that Sheren signed a contract with TVB. She said: "Sheren and I have never talked about a contract because she already has a manager. Her manager and I are also friends from Church, so I know her manager is helping her, and did not talk to her about a contract."

Popular drama No Regrets's finale had 3 million viewers, it was said that Shaw Brothers' production I Love HK Live Long Happily also has the character "Miss Nine", but it's not Sheren in the role, instead Maggie Cheung takes over. Producer Eric Tsang expressed that the "Miss Nine" role really suits Maggie because she's already a TV Queen, a super star and will have scenes with Wayne Lai.
