Wu Fung almost walked into a hole on stage, Leon Lai embraces reassuring him

Wu Fung celebrated his 80th birthday by opening a show at Hong Kong Coliseum. Several of his god sons and daughters including Sandy Lam, George Lam, Nick Cheung and many more were guest performers. Leon Lai made a special appearance despite being ill.

Wu Fung is quite popular as it was a full house last night. His god sons and daughters, as well as his three grand daughters all went on stage to perform. Among them, Film King Nick Cheung was the funniest as he pretended to be his god father. Wu Fung exposed both of their wives are called "Wing Ho" (referring to Esther Kwan).

Then the rising platform was lowered to allow Sandy Lam to get on stage, but Wu Fung didn't know there was a hole in the middle of the stage. He was walking and talking, and almost fell into the hole. Luckily, the audience all shouted for him to be careful, and it was like Wu Fung just woke up from his dreams, he stopped and avoided the fall. Just a step away and Wu Fung could have fell down below the stage. Coincidentally, George Lam (Ah Lam) had a similar incident happened to him before, so when Ah Lam came on stage, he joked: "You were almost like me just now." Wu Fung laughed: "I don't dare to learn from you... I can't do it. Luckily the audience were calling out for me." Ah Lam laughed: "How come the audience at that time didn't shout out for me? Next time when I hold a concert, I will ask you to help me watch out for those holes."

When Leon got on stage, he went to give his god father a hug to reassure him. However, Wu Fung was not worried at all, but in fact was more worried about his health. Leon insisted to make a guest appearance despite being ill, which touched Wu Fung's heart.

Also, Wu Fung and Lydia Shum, who appeared on the TV screen 'duet' Keep On Smiling. This was Wu Fung's dream 10 years ago on his 70th birthday.

HK media: Andy to apply leave from wife to attend HKFA ceremony

The 31st Hong Kong Films Awards will be held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on 15 April, since the day where the nominee list had been announced, it resulted several number of movie fans to “spitting at the list”, meanwhile when the nominees photographs were revealed, what’s puzzling is the entourage of Let The Bullets Fly which has 13 nominations was absent, not only Best Actor nominees Jiang Wen and Ge You, even Best Supporting Actress nominee Carina Lau did not appear in the group photo. In comparison, the nominees from A Simple Life were all at the center positions in the group photo, it seems that A Simple Life will be winning awards.

Different from previous years where group photographs of nominees of the same category, in this year’s magazine’s group photograph gathered the nominees in Best Director, Best Actor and Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Actress and Best New Artist. Those whom participated in the group photo-taking includes Ann Hui, Tsui Hark, Alan Mak, Felix Chong, Andy Lau, Lau Ching Wan, Shu Qi, Tang Wei, Gao Yuan Yuan, Zhou Xun, Wang Yu, Paul Chun, Lo Hoi Pang, Kenneth Tsang, Kara Hui, Qin Hailu, Guey Lun-mei, Jam Hsiao, Shiga Lin, Zheng Shuang, Karena Ng and Sheng Jian.

Other than Johnnie To who absent himself every year, all nominees from Emperor Group were absent. Let The Bullets Fly which is the hot favorite as it has 13 nominations was absent, not only Best Actor nominees Jiang Wen and Ge You, even Best Supporting Actress nominee Carina Lau did not appear in the photo shoot. In addition, Nicholas Tse who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in Shaolin also did not appear in the group photo. As Lau Ching Wan is nominated with Best Actor with two films, with the absent of Jiang Wen and Ge You, thus only two nominees of the Best Actor award appeared in the group photo. This could also be the reason that Hong Kong Film Awards changed its idea of group photo for the nominees of individual award category, because it would be indeed odd for two person for the Best Actor category.

Since without the group photograph of individual award nominees, in the past people would like to guess the “2 right” persons will win award does not exist. Worth mentioning is in this year’s group photograph, seated in the center are nominees for Best Actor and Actress – Andy Lau and Deanie Ip, both from the film A Simple Life, Best Supporting Actress nominee Qin Hailu who is from the same film is also standing at the back row’s center position. It can be seen that A Simple Life is the favorite among all favorites in this year’s award, looked like it’s fixed to win awards.

Currently, Andy’s wife is 7 months pregnant, expected to give birth in June. Being a loving husband, other than promotion for A Simple Life, he had stopped work completely, he had indicated earlier that he might absent himself at the 15 April award presentation ceremony as he would stayed home to accompany his wife. However, insider revealed to Hong Kong media that there’s possibility that Andy would not keep his words.

The Hong Kong media said that Andy had initially informed the Hong Kong Film Awards committee that he would not be attending the ceremony, but the committee managed to convince him and express that A Simple Life has high possibility of becoming this year’s biggest winner, this made Andy who is one of the film’s investor to have a change of heart as he decided to “apply leave” from his wife to attend the ceremony.

Annie Liu seriously draws the line with Kevin Cheng

Annie Liu, Chilam Cheung and director Patrick Kong attended the ending-of-filming celebration for new film Natural Born Lovers ?????. During the interview, Annie expressed without hesitation that it is impossible to develop a relationship with rumored boyfriend Kevin Cheng, she said: "I hereby clarify that nothing happened between Kevin and I. I say without holding anything back that Kevin and I have not developed anything nor will there be any possibility. The reports earlier, I feel like I was accused."

Annie also denied she's drawing the line with Kevin because he's got a new love interest: "I have limited understanding of him and I don't have that kind of romantic feeling for him." She also denied the reports that she was frightened by Kevin and his ex-rumored girlfriend Charmaine Sheh. She said: "This is totally entertainment news."

Chilam declined to comment on Jay Chou's verbal fight with the Taiwanese paparazzi: "Every individual handles the paparazzi differently. Perhaps I'm more positive, after several years, I have seen a lot and slowly I become part of them, a close relationship. Today, I'm not afraid to see the paparazzi, its like seeing a friend. I wouldn't feel upset or anything, and I understand that this is just the nature of their work. I'm also pleased to know that I'm still news worthy.

Chilam is a gentlman that doesn't lift a fist, and he also teaches this principle to his son Morton: "Years ago, I encountered an extreme reporter that deliberately tried to upset me, but my mood doesn't change too much. The current paparazzi are better, our relationship have actually reached a 'harmonious' stage."
