[News] KARA endorses Japanese Covenience Store

With KARA's overwhelming popularity in Japan, the girls grabbed another commercial deal as they has been chosen as the new model for Family Mart's fried chicken.

Earlier today, KARA revealed the new commercial through national TV alongside the behind-the-scene video. The girls showcased the new "chicken dance", a cute and playful dance which is a perfect match for the "fried chicken song".

Appearing in a CF for a Japanese convenience store only proved KARA's rising status in Japan as convenience store modeling contracts are only given to the most prominent stars. Previously, Yonsama (Bae Yong Jun) was the only hallyu star to model for the convenience store, as he was chosen to model for Family Mart’s 30th anniversary in July.

Myolie Wu & Kevin Cheng crowned Astro's TV King & Queen

The Malaysian channel Astro Wah Lai Toi held their My AOD Favourite Awards Presentation 2011 yesterday. The show will be broadcast on December 3rd on AOD. The 'My Favorite TV Best Actor and Actress' awards went to Kevin Cheng and Myolie Wu. Michael Tse and Fala Chen shared the 'My Favorite TV On-Screen Couple' award and Wayne Lai just got one of the 15 presented 'My Favorite TV Character' awards.

The results for the Astro TVB awards had always been very close to the TVB Anniversary Awards results. However last year Moses Chan and Charmaine Sheh broke the tradition on the 'My Favorite TV Best Actor and Actress' awards. This year, it is uncertain if it would be happiness or sadness for Kevin Cheng and Myolie Wu at the TVB Anniversary Awards.

A hot favorite for TV Queen this year, Myolie Wu appeared in a see-through flowered dress to the awards presentation. Since the other TV Queen hot favorite, Fala Chen, was absent from the event due to work and Myolie wasn't nominated for her role in Ghetto Justice, but for her grand production Curse of the Royal Harem, so Myolie appeared quite domineering.

When Myolie received her award, she became very emotional. Raymond Lam, who was sitting in the audience, took the lead to start shouting Myolie's rumored boyfriend Bosco Wong's English name, causing her some embarrassment. Myolie said: "Thank you Tommy Leung for not giving up on me over the last 10 years. It is him (Bosco) that told me to not thank him, but I will still thank him!" Bosco just brought up how Myolie teased he had a short tongue at the TVB Anniversary Gala: "I told her not to mention it again!"

Depending on Ghetto Justice, Kevin Cheng was crowned Astro's TV King, he frankly said: "Someone asked me, taking this award, means that I won't get the TVB award. I feel really contradictory right now, then am I going to get it or not? (The audience cheered loudly 'Yes!') Then I feel better now, I need to take advatange of this time and speak more because I won't have too many chances."

Sharon Chan, won 'My Favorite TV Supporting Actress' for her role in Ghetto Justice. When she accepted the award, she was crying emotionally and pointed her award up to the sky saying the award is for her father. As for Fala Chen, she was absent from the awards presentation, but the event organizers made arrangements for a "Malaysian Fala Chen", who is actually the Miss Malaysia winner (Lim Jia Bing) to present the 'My Favorite TV On-Screen Couple Award' to Michael Tse.

Also, although Raymond Lam, Tavia Yeung and Ruco Chan didn't pocket any big awards, but yesterday morning when they arrived in Kuala Lumpur, they got a large group of fans waiting at the airport to pick them up. Compared to the other TVB Siu Sang and FaDans that came with them, the three were more popular. Ruco mentioned his late grandmother is a from Malaysia and is surprised seeing his rise in popularity.

Michelle Chen jumps at the chance to work with Andy Lau

Andy Lau Tak Wa with A SIMPLE LIFE (TOH JEH) and Deanie Ip Tak Han won the Golden Horse Best Actor and Best Actress. Wa Jai won again after seven years, which made him very happy. Wa Jai's wife Chu Lai Sin was rumored to be pregnant. Two nights ago Wa Jai at the celebration was asked but Wa Jai neither denied nor admitted it, only saying that he did not want to talk about his family.

After the 48th Golden Horse Awards ended, the organizer held a farewell party. WARRIORS OF THE RAINBOW: SEEDIQ BALE, A SIMPLE LIFE, and YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE teams attended. At the event YOU and SIMPLE's team met and they exchanged congratulations. YOU director Giddens Ko did not win Best New Director, but he said that not winning was not important. The most important was a photo with Wa Jai, which made Wa Jai smile ear to ear. Wa Jai knew YOU had good word of mouth and asked Giddens Ko in advance, "When will you work with me?" Before Giddens Ko even spoke up, Michelle Chen could not wait to raise her hand. "Count me in, count me in." Even Ko Chen-Tung joked that he could work the lights.

Wa Jai pointed out that this was his second Golden Horse Award, the last time was seven years ago. He said, "Seven years ago I already thought the jury spoiled me, maybe the jury thought that I haven't won in many years and gave the award to me." he said that this time the jury spoiled Sister Peach (Ip Tak Han) and the movie A SIMPLE LIFE itself. Such an ending was truly very perfect. Wa Jai also pointed out that earlier when Ip Tak Han won at the Venice Film Festival he was not present. This time he was not only there but even presented the award to her and witnessed the director's victory, it was extraordinarily meaningful. Ip Tak Han said that she was very excited to win with Wa Jai. Would she lose any sleep? She said that she would not because she had to pack too. A SIMPLE LIFE will open in March. Now the film has won so many awards, will its release be pushed up? Wa Jai pointed out that it will depend on distribution because it will be distributed along with the Mainland. Hui On Wa wanted to work with Wa Jai and Ip Tak Han again and joked that it would be the best to win at the next Hong Kong Film Award as well.

In addition, recently Wa Jai's wife Chu Lai Sin was rumored to be pregnant. Wa Jai was asked about but neither admitted nor denied the rumor. He only said, "Today I am not talking about family." Wa Jai, Ip Tak Han and Hui On Wa yesterday arrived in Hong Kong. Shu Qi was asked whether she was disappointed that she did not win Best Actress. "With many excellent actors, the nomination is already a type of recognition. I very willingly concede defeat to Ip Tak Han."

Andy Lau finally can pass down family name, 45 year old Carol Zhu is 5 months pregnant

Three years ago, 50 year old Andy Lau secretly married 45 year old Carol Zhu, lying to everyone in the world, and yet today he still maintains the same style, refusing to announce that he became a father! It was said after 3 years of hard work, the couple finally gets pregnant via artificial insemination. Carol is already 5 months pregnant. Despite the rumors in the recent month, Andy refused to admit and kept avoiding the question. Even that day when he was crowned Gold Horse Film King, he kept his mouth shut when the questions came up. It was only until the other night when he got back to HK, that he couldn't hide it anymore and decided to post on his fansite Andy World Club Official Website at 1:50am that indirectly admitted his wife is pregnant: "Thank you Godfather Heaven for loving me too, giving me double happiness. I hope to share this happiness with my family. Congratulate us...."

Actually Andy's wife Carol met Andy shortly after she won third place in the Miss Malaysia beauty contest in 1985. This started their 20 year underground romance. The couple were secretly married on June 23, 2008, but because Andy was afraid the marriage would affect his Heavenly King career, he concealed the truth from the rest of the world. That following year, Andy's big secret was exposed and upset fans crowned him 'Big Liar Heavenly King'.

The other night at 9pm, Andy came back to HK from Taiwan after attending the Golden Horse awards. A large group of fans surrounded the airport. When asked if he's going to tell his wife, first thing, that he's the new Film King? Andy said: "Behave, don't ask. (Who do you want to share with?) I want to share with everyone." Surprisingly, 3 hours later when Andy returned home, he announced that he's a father on his official website.

According to Eileen Cha, she expressed that she sent Andy a SMS to congratulate him, and he personally replied: "1...0000000000000 thank you!"

Fala Chen blames 'Lives of Omission' isn't an anniversary series

Fala Chen has confidence for the December 5th TVB Anniversary Awards. She expressed everything is already the past and that during filming she tried her best to do the best. The other night, Malaysia Astro held the "AOD My Favourite 2011 Awards', Myolie Wu won Best Actress, while she and Michael Tse won the 'Favorite On-Screen Couple'. It was said the Astro awards are just 'condolence awards' and that Myolie's chances to get the TVB TV Queen award is greatly reduced. Fala was asked if she has more confidence to get TV Queen now? She said: "Both award presentations have different mechanisms and are by different hosts. Audiences' taste is different, each person will have a chance, it's very fair."

Also, it was rumored TVB deliberately wanted to use Curse of the Royal Harem (CRH) to push Myolie Wu for TV Queen and not Fala's Lives of Omission , in which her role was well-received. Fala said: "CRH is the anniversary series, so naturally the series will be heavily weighted. I also hope Lives of Omission could be broadcast during the anniversary period, it's hot and fresh."

Fala will be heading over to the States to recover from her [trigeminal] condition and had no choice but to withdraw from new series The Prominent Family. After Miss Hong Kong Rebecca Zhu replaced Fala in new film Laughing Gor Turning Point 2, she replaces her again in the new series. Looks like Rebecca is Fala's 'substitute'. Fala said: "I don't agree that we look alike. Rebecca was formally a dancer and a performer, I believe she will have different developments in her performances. As Miss HK, Rebecca has been working continuously, I am happy for her too."

Yesterday Koni attended the costume fitting for TVB new series Policewoman Love Battlefield, when asked if she can confirm if her fiance is Dickson Wong? He is very faithful and loyal to me."

As Koni was once rumored with Eric Tsang and Anthony Wong, asked why didn't she announce she had a boyfriend earlier? She said: "I thought announcing on Weibo, everyone would know. They arranged everything long before, he's very attentive and knows me well. He knows what I like." Asked if Koni didn't want to announce? Tony Leung Chiu Wai understands life through magic

Tony Leung Chiu Wai in THE GREAT MAGICIAN (DAI MOR SHOOK SI) played the title role and performed highly difficult magic tricks like real magicians. Behind his success, Wai Jai before the film studied for more than half a year with the film's magic instructor Benz Kong To Hoi. Wai Jai even learned the reasoning behind "spectators are baffled, administrators are clear minded".

When Wai Jai on the stage performed making his female assistant disappear on the stage, he took only three seconds. Zhou Xun who was in the audience had more than compliments for Wai Jai's performance. Her seventh concubine character in the film was the object of affection of both the talented Wai Jai and powerful Lau Ching Wan. Zhou Xun felt very spoiled because both were Best Actors who were deeply popular with the ladies. In reality would she choose a talented or a powerful boyfriend? She said, "Those doesn't matter, talented or powerful aren't important. I would look at that person's heart. The most important is kindness, as long as he loves me he is fine. the rest are secondary." Finally she joked that all the conditions together would make her dream lover.

Wai Jai learned a lot from magic. He thought magic was just like life, both fantastic and real. "When a magician is on the stage, he is the person who is the most certain about the entire performance. On the other hand, people off stage are baffled but remains on the surface as the person on the stage leads them around. This is 'spectators are baffled, administrators are clear minded'."

Eason Chan acts in English

Eason Chan Yik Shun earlier worked with new director Chris Chow on the HK$10 million thriller STRAWBERRY CLIFF. In the film he not only was the lead actor but also the only Chinese actor in the cast. He performed in English in the film. Director Chris Chow hoped to break into the Hollywood market with STRAWBERRY. Why did he choose Chan Yik Shun for his lead? He admitted that it was because Eason was not handsome enough. If he was too handsome like Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho), it would exceed reality. Chris Chow also said that one of the reasons that he cast Eason was because he spoke fluent English.

Was Eason's English great? Eason admitted that this time the English lines were very challenging because every line had to accurate and he also had to pay attention to his tone. He said that he could communicate in English ordinarily, but for acting, the director still had to correct him on the details.

Speaking of the director saying that he was not handsome enough, Eason joked that everyone's angle was different. As long as he thought he was handsome then he was fine.

Leon Lai puts an effort into playing Liu Bang

The Daniel Lee Yan Kong directed WHITE VENGEANCE (HUNG MOON YIN) had Leon Lai Ming, Zhang Hanyu, Liu Yifei, Anthony Wong Chau Sun, Jordan Chan Siu Chun and others in its cast. Lee Yan Kong said that WHITE VENGEANCE was a life and death psychological battle, thus a lot of effort went into the script creation. Even actor personalities went into character designs. "Liu Bang originally was somewhat indecisive and honorable, but with an one-sided war, in order to become the Emperor he had to be very devious. He became introverted and not easily show his hand. I chose Lai Ming because he was low key and had the aura of a king. He could be good or evil, in command of complex humanity changes.
Thus the result was great."

Lai Ming after the shoot said that he understood the king of a generation's personality. Because Liu Bang went to a civilian to an Emperor, in the process of which many brothers made sacrifices. Later he had to end such friendships, which was very difficult. He had to play the pledge of alligence and the reluctant helplessness. Before hand he put a lot of work into studying the role. Other actors like Zhang Hanyu, Wong Chau Sun were all Best Actors. As Consort Yu Liu Yifei said that "Acting in frton of a group of Best Actors was very stressful. Because every character is a great historical figure, every moment I feel like I am on the edge."
