Aimee & Ruco Chan mutual support to get a TVB award

Aimee Chan and Ruco Chan were invited yesterday to an opening ceremony. It was said they were both favored by Virgina Lok, and will get take an award at the awards ceremony this year as well as had the privilege to attend this event. They expressed their mutual support for one another, but did not think they will get awards themselves. Ruco laughed: "Perhaps this year the Chans are prosperous, Moses Chan is a Chan too, so I think those who are a Chan are luckier." Asked if he feels pressured? He said: "Nope! I am not acting for awards, the most important is for acting development in every series I'm in. Of course I will be happy if there is an award, treat it as a bonus."

Aimee also felt if there is pressure, then good work can't be done, so for every series she will just get into character and not worry about the awards. It seems as if Aimee's speaking skills suddenly got better, asked if Moses Chan taught her how to answer these questions? She smiled: "I never knew how to talk, nor have I talked to him about this." If she and Moses wins awards together, will they then announce their relationship? She played dumb: "What relationship! But there are series I'm shooting." Asked if Moses gave her any of his valuables? She said: "Nope, just coffee."

Joey Yung publicly touched, shouts that it was enjoyable

Jamie Chik, Meg Lam and Lo Hoi Pan's classic stage play Shrimp Crazy Family (????) started their first performance last night inviting heavyweight guests Joey Yung, Eric Tsang and Carol Cheng to kick off a hilarious show.

Joey played a '3D Goddess' that came out of a 3D television set. Known to love playing tricks, Lo Hoi Pan was performing Joey's songs and purposely made strange sounds, which almost made Joey burst in laughter. When Meg joined in on the fun, she shouted: "Wah! Joey Yung! Let me touch her." Then her hands swept through Joey's shoulders and body. Lo Hoi Pan then asked: "You can touch?" Then he approached Joey's shoulders, but fortunately she wasn't fearful.

During the interview, Joey frankly said she didn't mind being touched publicly: "It feels like the customs checking you, so much fun. Doesn't really matter, this is an one-time memory that won't happen again!" She also expressed that it wasn't enough for her to only be in one segment.

Backstage when Felix Wong saw Joey's 6-inch heels, he quickly looked for a pair of flip flops for her, which extremely moved Joey: "He's such a great person."

Last night, Michael Tse and his wife, Chin Ka Lok and Angela Tong were in the audience to support the show.

JSG Awards says “bye bye” to HK Coliseum

For more than a decade, TVB’s annual “JSG Top Ten Awards Ceremony” took place as a ‘major event’ at the HK Coliseum. Our paper received word recently that this year’s (2011) JSG Awards will take place on January 14th, however the venue for the show will no longer be the HK Coliseum – instead, the event will take place in Studio One at TVB City. With the drop in attendance from over 10,000 audience members (HK Coliseum) to only about 700 audience (Studio One), the huge difference in the ‘grandeur’ of the event is very apparent. In the past, the JSG Awards used to be one of the ‘grandest and most important events’ in the HK Music industry, however now it seems to have become 'just another television program’ -- it’s no surprise then that the general impression of the JSG Awards is that it went from being a ‘big show’ to a ‘small show’!

According to reports, after Stephen Chan returned to TVB, his number one priority was to work with the Big 4 record companies to resolve the almost 2 year old royalty dispute. Though both sides had agreed on a compromise in terms of the royalty fees, the negotiations reached a stalemate due to TVB’s stipulation that contracted singers are not allowed to appear on other TV stations. With the Big 4 record companies standing firm and TVB refusing to budge on the issue, both sides could not come to an agreement; therefore, singers from the Big 4 record companies will continue to be ‘absent’ from the upcoming JSG Awards Ceremony. To ‘add salt to the wound’, many artists from the other record companies (non Big 4) have decided not to renew their singers’ contracts with TVB either, as they did not want to be tied down by the restriction of not being able to appear on other TV stations. With the decreasing number of contracted singers and only ‘their own people’ – EEG artists such as Joey Yung, Leo Ku, Raymond Lam, etc – backing them up, it is reported that TVB has decided to ‘cut back’ on production and move the JSG Awards to Studio One instead of HK Coliseum.

Also, according to reports, singer Miriam Yeung – who lost the “Most Favorite Female Singer” award to Joey Yung at JSG last year – won’t be attending the awards ceremony this year, due in large part to her record company being dissatisfied with TVB over the loss of the award. Even though Miriam’s singer contract with TVB expired over a month ago, she has not taken steps to renew with TVB, though she has continued to maintain a ‘friendly’ relationship with the station – so far, she has not appeared on other TV stations, plus she participated in one of TVB’s big charity shows «???????»which was held last week. In addition to Miriam, it was also reported that the contract for singer Janice Vidal, whose duet with newcomer JW won the “Golden Song” award at JSG last year, will expire early next year – rumor has it that due to disagreement over awards at the upcoming ceremony, there’s a possibility that she won’t be attending either.

In response to the reports of the JSG Awards taking place at Studio One instead of the HK Coliseum, TVB’s director of external affairs Tsang Sing Ming expressed: “Because the HK Coliseum is already fully booked, we are currently seeking out another location for the awards ceremony. If there is no other suitable venue, then Studio One will be the last resort." Asked whether TVB was ‘cutting costs’ due to the lack of singers, Tsang Sing Ming responded: “That has nothing to do with it. It’s just that we haven’t found a suitable venue yet, that’s all.”

Asked about the change in venue for the JSG Awards, Miriam Yeung stated: “Where the event takes place isn’t really important; the most important is the content of the program.” Multiple “Female Singer Award” winner Joey Yung responded: “Actually, where the event takes place isn’t too important; the important thing is that the awards are a recognition and encouragement to the singers for their efforts in the past year.” Last year’s “Asian Region Favorite Male Singer” award winner Raymond Lam commented: “Actually, the venue isn’t the most important. Studio One’s facilities are actually quite good and are comparable to other venues elsewhere.”

Sonija Kwok could have died if she escaped a minute later

Prepared to be a bride, Sonija Kwok was shooting for a Mainland series in Shanghai yesterday and encountered an accident on the set. A minute before the accident, she was sitting by the toppling tower and was able to get away just in time after the staff told her to. Unexpectedly, the tower collapsed in a blink of an eye. She was very fortunately to have escape just in time, but according to news, there was about 21 cast and crew injured on the set. Four of them were critically injured. The incident is currently under investigation.

Yesterday afternoon, Sonija wrote on Weibo sharing her eye witnessed collapsing tower accident. She said: "I'm still panicking. Just a minute before the tower collapsed, I was sitting near the area. The heavens sent out an angel -- our makeup artist -- it was only [he/she] that called me back in to sit in the house was I able to escape from the accident. I hope the injured are ok, I will pray for them."

Experienced a life and death situation in just 60 seconds, Sonija was fortunate she escaped from calamity. She kept saying she was lucky and immediately notified her husband that she was fine. However, the post was deleted not long after. Steven Ma was extremely happy that Sonija was fine and asked about her safety on Weibo.

According to the investigation, the accident happened around 2:50pm at a studio in Shanghai. The series (?????) was in the middle of shooting when suddenly a beam on the set collapsed injuring over 20 people, 4 were critically injured. The majority of the injured were Extras. It was said that approximately 150 people were on the set. A Mainland reporter interviewed one of the injured female actresses at the hospital. She revealed some were in their costumes, some were very young girls and approximately 100 people were on the second floor. Suddenly the wooden panel on the second floor caved in and everyone started running, so the floor was bearing a lot of weight. Then the beam collapsed at that time.

Yoyo Mung Scared by Car Accident; Ruco Chan Thanks Virginia Lok

Earlier, Yoyo Mung (???) was involved in a car accident. While filming an automobile accident scene for ATF Counter Terrorism Unit "ATF??", Yoyo’s head was reeling. After the scene, Yoyo admitted that filming the car crash scene helped her overcome the traumatic experience of her real-life car accident earlier.

Yoyo Mung and Ruco Chan (???) filmed a scene for ATF Counter Terrorism Unit in Tseung Kwan O’s industrial area yesterday. The scene spoke of Yoyo being held hostage in a car, with Ruco coming forward to rescue her. Trapped in the car, Yoyo’s vehicle spun 360 degrees in several circles. The scene was filmed twice before it was finally completed. Afterwards, Yoyo stepped out of the car and said, “I feel so dizzy! I feel like I just went to Ocean Park [on a roller coaster ride]!” She sat down to eat a dried plum to prevent vomiting!

Yoyo Mung Still Possessed Fear of Car Accident

Asked how she felt, YoYo said said, “At first, I had no psychological preparation. In the scene, my hands were bound by the seat belt and I cannot move. It does not matter. The scene said that I bumped my head until I fainted, so there is no need to edit the scene. Actually, I do feel a bit dizzy. Most actors wish to perform their own stunts if possible because they do not want the final results to come across as too fake.” (Was Yoyo concerned about the risks?) “There is not guarantee in safety while filming action scenes, but I believe that the crew designed and prepared the stunt well while testing the it many times. To produce a realistic effect, it is necessary to take a little risk.”

Despite her weak, slender shape, Yoyo loved to film action scenes. She was able to endure pain and the filming effects can be viewed immediately. Asked whether she possessed reservations in filming the car crash scene [due to her real life auto accident], Yoyo said, “Yes, because the car was moving quickly. I sat in the passenger seat and the centrifugal force was very strong. It was quite scared. After filming the scene for a second time, I felt better. All is good, as it can help overcome the psychological impact [left from my real life auto accident].” Did Yoyo possess any reservations while driving in the scene? “No, I understand that accidents are unexpected, so I will try not to drive too fast.”

Ruco Chan Thanked Ms. Lok

Noting that ATF Counter Terrorism Unit had numerous action scenes, Ruco Chan commented that the series’ actresses were very strong. “Aimee Chan (???) and Yoyo like filming action scenes and will frequently perform the stunts themselves. So the men are forced to do the same! Ha ha!”

Regarding the fact that TVB executive, Virginia Lok (???), held Aimee Chan and Ruco Chan in high esteem, thus giving Ruco a great chance in winning this year’s “Most Improved Male Artist Award,” he replied, “This year, more of my dramas were broadcast which allowed the audience to know me better, especially with the airing of The Other Truth "??". Since I have worked in the industry for so long, I just want to do my own part well. I truly have not thought about any awards.” As to whether he possessed confidence in winning, Ruco said, “I have never thought about it. In fact, I am happy to be nominated.”

Regarding Ms. Lok speaking highly of him, Ruco said, “I thank her for her praise. Two months ago, I signed a management contract with TVB, a company which I really wanted to sign with since the work arrangements have been very good. I am a person who goes with the flow. Working for so many years, aside from waiting for opportunities, I have encountered several talent scouts. Ms. Lok is one of my talent scouts; there are in fact many, including Producer Amy Wong (???), a producer who trusts me a lot.”

Kate Tsui gets a mysterious phone call offering her a price

Actresses in showbiz are often rumored to have a wealthy businessman take care of them for different prices, as a mistress, through a dinner banquet and numerous others. Most targets are the ones who started their careers from a beauty contest. 2004 Miss Hong Kong winner Kate Tsui recently had a chain of kisses on-screen and was secretly admired by someone. The person got a matchmaker to call Kate and invite her out for a 'private meeting'.

(Speaker: Kate Tsui)

Come out for a 'drink' if it doesn't work out

My idea of 'dinners' is nothing complicated. Several years after my debut into the industry, the dinner banquets my management arranged for me, I attended them all. Of course, the targets are sponsors, advertisers and charity banquets. The rest are personal dinners that have never made it into the light. You ask me if anyone offered me a price before? I can tell you, usually I do not answer calls from unfamiliar numbers, but recently I have answered one call that asked me if I could have a 'private meeting' with them.

One day my phone rang with a Mainland number displayed. I thought it was my manager who called me from Mainland, so I answered the call. I unexpectedly heard a deeper voice speaking in Mandarin through the phone, but there was also a woman's voice speaking Cantonese. At first she spoke Mandarin, but then she switched to Cantonese. Based on her tone, I already felt the call was strange. She asked me if I was Kate Tsui? And said her boss has a job for me, it is a birthday party, he wanted to invite me to the party to sing and be the MC. I recommended she contact my manager first.

But that woman jumped over my manager and personally talked to me about a price. She said managers usually turn down the offer. She expressed money isn't a problem, 500,000 or a million would be ok and I could just offer a price as I wished. However, that moment I really didn't care about that or how many zeroes I wanted to add. I just expressed that she should call my manager and her manager will notify me. That woman wouldn't let me go, she continued with her chatter. She said if the negotiations really don't work out in the end, she will ask me out for a 'drink' to discuss more. I asked her how she got my number? She just said a friend gave it to her, but the person is very low-key. When I asked the same question a few more times, she finally mentioned the friend's name, but I totally didn't know anyone by that name.

Later, of course she didn't contact my manager, but she called me again. This time I learned a lesson and didn't answer the call. I want to tell everyone I am not this type of person, so after that incident I felt a bit embarrassed. Actually there was someone before who did the same thing, but asked me through someone else. Even before I heard the price, I dashed off through the backdoor. Although I have been in the industry for 7 years, I often have this attitude, but nobody cares and still ask me.

Change of image

I believe money is important, but how much is enough? At least, I am currently satisfied, have a job I love and have no difficulties in making a living. This is considered falling short of the best, but better than the worst. I basically do not need another account to add in more zeroes!

I remember the first few years in the industry, I had short hair and looked like a tomboy. Basically I couldn't attract others to show appreciation for me, so through this experience I started keeping fit and dressed to look more like a female. What does this have to do with my image? I believe it's related, but the outer appearance is not related. Just as long as people pay attention, I do indeed have that sexiness and savagery on stage, otherwise you wouldn't see me dressed like this. I can accept small amounts of sexiness in public events, but there is no need to show off because all I want is to just be more feminine.

Recently the series I participated in had some sexy and intimate kiss scenes. In one costume drama, a bathing scene led to complaints, but honestly speaking, there was doubt when I was shooting the scene too. Can the scale be that large in costume dramas? But as an artist, if the role is described like that, then must maintain the professionalism and complete the scene. I have my bottom line in acting, just as long as it's logical I will respect.

Eva Huang and Charlene Choi get naked to play snake

The Ching Siu Tung directed THE SORCERER AND THE WHITE SNAKE (BAK SEH CHUEN SHUET) will open on September 29th in Hong Kong and the Mainland for the National Day slot. Eva Huang Shengyi and Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin in the film played White Snake and Green Snake. As Green Snake, Ah Sa would display Green Snake's lively side. In the film she even played matchmaker to Huang Shengyi and Raymond Lam Fung. The film added many computer generated special effects. In THE SORCERER AND THE WHITE SNAKE a human shape that was covered in snake scales from shoulder to waist and below waist was all snake. In order to realistically display such human snake hybrid, Huang Shengyi and Ah Sa were wrapped in blue cloth from their chest down and relied on post production on the special effect created snake scales. Their figures left nothing to the imagination. To create White Snake and Green Snake's "snake skin", Huang Shengyi and Ah Sa also needed to be completely naked in the resin mold. To Huang Shengyi and Ah Sa, the film THE SORCERER AND THE WHITE SNAKE made them give the biggest leeway in their careers.

Huang SHengyi said the molding process was a little hot. At first she was not used to it. Luckily her skin did not have any reaction. She said that this special effect scene was already much more comfortable than fighting Jet Li (Lee Nin Kit)'s Fahai and being hung up high for a sword fight. She said that after days of fighting, the molding was like rest for her. Speaking of working with Ah Sa, Huang Shengyi said that she was a very cute little sister. This half human, half snake look once gave Director Ching Siu Tung quite a headache as he repeatedly asked the Korean company to make adjustments to achieve Green and White Snake's half human, half snake image. In addition, the film also had other demons, like Miriam Yeung Chin Wa's rabbit demon, Jiang Wu's turtle demon, Chapman To Man Jat's toad demon, Lam Suet's rooster demon and a particularly cute mouse. They were all friends of White Snake and Green Snake.

Through a phone call between enews and IU’s company, LOEN Entertainment, they revealed that ‘IU prepared 50 transportation cards for her 3rd year anniversary. Along with the prepaid transportation cards she had prepared a small present which she gave to her friend who was in charge of her fans.’

In addition, even though she did not have much time after filming ‘Inkigayo’ due to her schedule in the countryside, she still thanked her fans before leaving.

Although the presents weren’t worth much, seeing that she personally prepared the gifts touched her fans hearts.

[News/Trans] World star Yoona dazzles with October issue of ‘InStyle’

Without realising it, she gradually changed from a ‘SoNyeo’, to one who is more suitable with the word ‘lady’. Therefore, ‘mature’ clothes now suit her pretty well. YoonA, who stands in front of the camera wearing a ‘see-through’, tells her story of being a twenty-two years old girl.

YoonA had a bite of her sandwich the moment she arrived at the studio. While putting fried potatoes into her mouth, she started mumbling,

“I arrived late from Tokyo last night. When I woke up this morning, I was preparing to come over to the shooting set. Since I didn’t get to eat, I’m very hungry now. Can I eat a little more while we’re on the set? (laughter)”

Watching her eating fried potatoes from the sandwich, and even started drinking carbonated drink, staffs asked her if she was on diet.

She said, “We are enduring this as ‘bab-shims’ (Gods of rice). On the internet, people made the ‘SNSD’s 800 calories food list’ and we don’t even know who made it. Members are all eating well, so that is not true.”, as she smiled.

Even though she’s supposed to be tired after finishing the Tokyo Dome SMTown concert, which gathered around 150,000 fans, she displayed her bright and cheerful image throughout the shoot, and gave off her charms. The one who wears a swaying see-through one-piece with good image, is none other than YoonA.

YoonA is also a world star who dominates the stages out of cities like Tokyo and Shanghai in Asia, into L.A, Paris, even New York.

“The Europeans know about us and even sing along to our songs. It was amazing. Our songs are able to move the hearts of the people in the world and in fact, they could even touch those who listen to them. With that said, i think our responsibility is also increasing. However, I’m not worried. It’s because when 9 of us are together, I believe there’s nothing that cannot be done. (laughter)”

Lately, YoonA has been indulging in cooking. She’s been learning how to cook, especially her very own “YoonA-Styled Special Steamed Chicken”, certified by other members. She thought of not only learning how to cook Korean food, but also Chinese and Japanese food. She also hinted that she is preparing to meet the people with her ‘actress YoonA’ image.

“I haven’t been participating in acting since the drama ‘Cinderella Man’ 2 years ago. I want to present more good productions that it even tickles my body!”

Even though having endless schedules and many things to do as a member of SNSD, she feels happy. That is because things that she dreamt of are coming true one by one.

After the shoots, she changed into denim pants, black T-shirts and sneakers, once again became the 23-year-old typical university student.

“Woah, it’s such a bright and beautiful day today, it seems like the Paris sky I’ve seen before.”

She said that she usually looks at the sky to calm herself down and she loves to take pictures of the sky. In addition, she said that if there is a chance, she wishes to open a photoshoot studio of her own. The afternoon when we met her, seemed as beautiful as her, as lovely as her and as dazzling as her.
