[News] Lee Seung-gi, 'No One Can Fill Vacancy of Kang Ho Dong'

Singer and actor Lee Seung Ki, who had appeared with Kang Ho Dong on the KBS 2TV variety program "Happy Sunday - Two Days and One Night" and on the SBS variety program "Strong Heart," stated his opinion on October 26, "The vacancy of Kang Ho Dong will not be filled by anyone in the future." He participated in a press conference held in Seongsudong on October 26 to commemorate the release of his fifth album. What he said was an answer for a question by a news reporter who had asked, "Many people are saying that Lee Seung Ki successfully filled the empty place where Kang Ho Dong had stood before. What do you think?"

Since Kang announced his temporary retirement, Lee has been hosting "Strong Heart," which he had previously hosted together with Kang, as the sole MC. Lee explained, “Viewers might have felt the same way that I think. The vacancy of Kang Ho Dong will hardly be filled. I am not trying to fill his shoes, but I am trying to host the program with the mindset that I will learn everything one by one. The harmony with the other cast members is really important on an entertainment program. Any individual member cannot decide the success of a program. Those programs in which I appear, “Two Days and One Night” and “Strong Heart,” could only become popular thanks to the other members such as Lee Kyung Sil and Cho Hye Ryeon, who helped me. It would be difficult for them to decide to appear on a program that a 25-year old man hosts as an MC, but they willingly appeared on the program and helped me in many ways.”

In addition, Lee Seung Ki said about Kang Ho Dong, “I think that I met an excellent senior entertainer in the entertainment industry. Many things happened between us and I could learn many things from Kang, including skills and the mindset required for entertainment programs by looking at what he did while we worked together.” Lee also added that we would maintain his attitude of learning more about the mindset needed to fill Kang’s vacancy in the future.

Lee Seung Ki will resume his activities as a singer after a two-year break by releasing his fifth album entitled “Tonight” at midnight on October 27.

Aaron Kwok invites Lynn Xiong to birthday dinner

Two Best Actors Aaron Kwok Fu Sing and Tony Leung Ka Fai starred new film COLD WAR (HONG JIN) yesterday held a press conference. Yesterday was Sing Sing's birthday and the event arranged for a plane shaped cake to celebrate with him. Sing Sing revealed that he would meet 20 friends for dinner and admitted that rumored girlfriend Lynn Xiong (Hung Doi Lam) would attend.

Kwok Fu Sing, Leung Ka Fai, Aarif Rahman (Lee Chi Ting), Eddie Peng Yu-yen, Chin Kar Lok and Lam Ka Tung introduced their characters. Ka Fai said that the last time he worked with Sing Sing was THROW DOWN (YAU DOH LUNG FU BONG) years ago. He thought that his acting was more and more stable and mature. How will Sing Sing celebrate his birthday? He said, "Probably dinner, with around 20 friends. (Was Hung Doi Lam invited?) I invited her, she should be in Hong Kong." Speaking of Hung Doi Lam stating that she had a headache from preparing a birthday gift, he said, "Many friends all say that, actually I am already very happy about good friends having the time to meet. It's fortune." Sing Sing thanked his friends for already planning the celebration months ago because he could not promise to attend. He said, "Friends said they didn't care if I couldn't come. For example Shum Ka Wai deliberately came back from Beijing. This birthday could be considered unexpected because I always thought I would have to work. Luckily the team won't have a notice until tomorrow night so I have more time."

In the film playing a rival character opposite Leung Ka Fai, Sing Sing said that it will be an exciting film that battles wits, courage and ruthlessness. He hoped to be able to create another classic after INFERNAL AFFAIRS (MO GAN DOH). Sing Sing also said that earlier they shot a major explosion scene that used three hydrogen bombs to create a giant fire ball. Although the effect was dangerous but the actors on the set were very safe. Has Hung Doi Lam visited the set? Sing Sing said, "I don't like friends visiting the set, I am afraid that work would be affected. People who understand me know that I focus on work. Even manager Siu Mei rarely appears." As for Andy Lau Tak Wa, he had a part but did not appear yesterday. The press release did not mention Wa Jai's name. Sing Sing said, "For now I have to keep it confidential, Wa Jai plays a very important character. My scenes with him earlier have already been completed."

Sing Sing joked that he grew up watching his performance, Leung Ka Fai did not mind. "He probably saw my commercials. In my growth process I made many commercials, if I have to count it would take awhile."

Ka Fai praised that Sing Sing's acting now has become more and more mature and called him "Heavenly King Best Actor". Will he attend Sing Sing's birthday dinner? He said, "When will he have time to eat with us?" Did he feel Sing Sing and Hung Doi Lam make a good couple? Ka Fai said, "You can tell from how solid Lynn's acting is, turning from a model to an actress. If they are truly boyfriend and girlfriend, privately they must have very deep exchanges."

Charlene Choi: “Nothing Can Hurt Me Anymore!”

Twins was established a decade ago and group members, Charlene Choi (???) and Gillian Chung (???), have experienced numerous turbulences. When Charlene’s marital status to Ronald Cheng (???) was revealed, their simultaneous divorce was unveiled before the public, leading to a double repercussion. No wonder Charlene noted that the worst has already passed and that she was no longer afraid of anything in life!

Charlene and Louis Koo (???) appeared at a celebratory banquet for I.T.’s Maison Martin Margiela store opening. I.T.’s founder, Shum Ka Wai (???), was also in attendance. With the current temperature in Beijing dipping to 5 degrees Celsius, Charlene wore the latest fall fur fashion at the banquet. Admitting that she was afraid of the cold temperatures, Charlene affixed six heating pads to her body to stay warm. When she entered the indoor venue, Charlene started sweating profusely. Charlene said, “When I was inside the car, I could not breathe properly; I wanted to die! It was a lot better when I walked outside.”

Feeling the Most Liberated In Her Entire Career

Charlene shared the details of her hectic upcoming schedule, “In November, Twins will perform in Shanghai as part of their world concert tour. We had performed in Guangzhou, China and the United States earlier. The world concert tour will continue in 2012. In March, we will perform in Zhongshan, China and another location. In addition, we will have to record our Cantonese music album and rehearse for the upcoming concert performances.”

Asked what style her new album will feature, Charlene said, “The album’s theme will center upon freedom. Over our 10-year career, Gillian and I felt the most liberated and happy in the last two years. I experienced an unhappy stage in my life and the worst period has already passed. There is nothing worse that can occur anymore, which is why I am very happy now. Nothing further can hurt me [to that extent] anymore. Earlier, Gillian and I released separate music albums and met different music producers and technicians, so we can introduce them to each other.”

“William Chan Is Very Mature”

Charlene revealed that her thinking has matured immensely, “I was not old enough in the past and dwelled on many things, wishing I was more mature. Now that I have matured, I have to get in touch with my inner child instead.” (William Chan ??? helps you get closer to your inner child?) “Although he is only slightly younger than I am, he is very mature. I will ask him for help on many matters.” (Can you elaborate on such instances?) “It’s difficult to say; something has to happen first.”

Asked whether numerous vendors sought Charlene and William to appear at joint promotional events together due to their dating status, she replied, “There are a few offers. We told our company, EEG, and the outside world, that we do not prefer to do so. We filmed several ads together; however, they were arranged prior to our dating.”

In addition, Charlene’s mainland series will be shortly broadcast in Italy, upon which she expressed a great sense of honor.

[Translator side note: Thanks for all who have helped out. Unfortunately, the situation isn't getting much better, and the flood has now started seeping into Bangkok and even my relatives are now having to start packing up and moving out of their homes :/]

Vincent Wong's proposal puts Yoyo Chen in tears, witnessed by audience & friends

Earlier it was exposed Vincent Wong and Yoyo Chen were getting married, but Vincent said frankly he hadn't proposed yet. He said he will find a good opportunity to propose to his girlfriend. The other night, after Vincent completed his stage play Barefoot in the Park, he took advantage of the time and openly thanked his girlfriend's support. Then Vincent took out a batch of Yoyo's favorite sunflowers and a diamond ring. He walked off the stage and towards where Yoyo was seated, then he immediately knelt down and proposed to her!

At the time, Yoyo was so surprised she didn't know how to react. The audience around her all cheered while Yoyo smiled widely as she nodded. Vincent immediately put the engagement ring on his fiance and the two had a deep embrace. Vincent then gave Yoyo a kiss. What a touching scene.

Yesterday reporters contacted Vincent, he said that night at the moment he proposed, he felt very nervous. The other cast members Joey Leung and Leila Tong tried to calm him down, he expressed: "I asked them how do I say it? Joey told me I shouldn't be thinking too much, just say what's from the heart. Prior to the proposal I made arrangements for over 20 of her friends and ex-classmates to be sitting on every corner of the arena to witness this. I even told them not to let Yoyo see, so many of the friends didn't even dare to go to the restroom!"

Vincent describes Yoyo as his chancellor that manages his everyday life including his meals. Backstage, Yoyo laughed and said she's definitely not a 'spicy hot wife'. On stage, the couple received applause from the audience and good friends. The two will be holding some 20 table wedding banquet in Island Shangri-La. Since they have too many friends from the entertainment circle, the seating arrangements will give them the biggest headache.

Also, many good friends congratulated them on Weibo. Myolie wished them 'together until old age' and said Yoyo will be marrying a super good husband. Vincent responded to Myolie: "Thanks Myolie, you do the same!" As for Sharon Chan, she wished them 'together until old age, love forever and to get a fat and chubby baby.'

Joey Yung clarifies the misunderstanding: Just friends with HOCC

Joey Yung and HOCC (Denise Ho) close relationship has been in discussion all along, but Joey never cared because she didn't feel the gossips affected her. Also, homosexual love is normal and it shouldn't be a big deal. Joey's comments led to a lot of misunderstandings among the public. Joey explained the public misunderstood her meaning, she clarified: "The homosexual love I was talking about is not HOCC. What HOCC and I have is friendship. She is one of my best friends, there is absolutely no love involved."

The single and traditional Joey is longing for love and to be in a relationship. She hopes to date someone and marry in the future. She laughed: "When I meet the right person, I will date and marry. I don't want the misunderstanding to scare away my pursuers. (Do you have any pursuers now?) Of course, but I still haven't decided on the best one, love cannot be rushed."

Regrets not formally becoming Roman Tam's apprentice

When speaking of her mentor Roman Tam, Joey said: "I don't know how to express my gratitude for my teacher. Back then I wasn't anything, 'nothing', a 'nobody'. When everyone looked down on me, this God-level senior took the risk and brought me to his concert and allowed me to perform on stage. Since then, everyone knew me, I will forever be grateful for this."

Joey continues: "However, even today there is still one thing I regret. I remember, it wasn't long since I became his student and he already called me up to ask if I should just be his official apprentice. That moment, I didn't answer because I felt so frightened. I don't know what I was so afraid of? I should think: 'Wah! Roman Tam is officially taking me as his apprentice!' That's what I should have thought, but at that moment, I didn't know what to do. I was hesitant. Perhaps I already lost confidence, but when my mentor started becoming ill, I wanted to do it again, but it was already too late, it was impossible."

Joey Yung & HOCC's same-sex love till Dooms Day

Joey Yung's singing career is like the sun at midday. Have been in the industry for over 10 years, we rarely see Joey with any rumors. She and her close friend Denise Ho's (Hocc) homosexual relationship has been the most thought provoking discussion. Ignoring the attention she got from everyone, Joey feels there is no need for her to worry about this topic because we are in the dooms day era.

(Joey speaks...)

Hocc and I met through Mr. Yeung (Albert Yeung). At the time, we haven't formally entered the industry yet. I remember in 1999, Hocc was the backup vocalist at Mui Jeh's (Anita Mui) concert. Mr. Yeung took me to go see Mui Jeh's performance and introduced me to Hocc backstage. We have known each other for over 10 years and had always had mutual support.

Fortunate to have life enlightened

Hocc and I are two people of different styles. She has the qualities I don't have and I have the qualities she doesn't have. When it comes to our character, we are both on different extremes. I am that type who is indefinite and unclear, whereas Hocc is much more firm, but she is too stubborn, I'm more flexible. Often times, it is only these kinds of people that can become good friends because we fill in what the other doesn't have. Actually people who have very similar characters may not be friends forever. Although I do seek improvements, but I am a person who really needs someone to enlighten me. She enlightens my life, my work and bestows my inspirations.

She is a martyr, the head of the group. She will forever be moving forward, and do the things that others may not be able to do. Just like her views, although sometimes she's too extreme, but as a friend, you will understand. It is just that she cares too much. In this world, we need someone like her. Indeed, her actions really was influential for me to become more courageous, she taught me to become more persistent of my beliefs.

People have focused their attention on us for several years, I would ask: "Has this affected my career? I don't think so. I still continue to release new records and hold concerts, then that's all that matters. After all, the rumor didn't affect the big picture. Just let the discussions go on then, it's ok!" In fact until this year 2011, we can't predict if next year is really dooms day, so why are we so worried about this topic? In other countries, there are many famous people that don't discriminate or push aside these types of friends. This world should contain several different types of friends. Why isn't our area (HK) opening up, but instead always so stuck on this topic? All this fuss is basically unnecessary.

Perhaps DNA went wrong

Homosexual love, I feel is just way too normal. I feel this is just another type of love. Why can't we accept this? I also have many friends who are this type. I would think something went wrong in the DNA, but that does not mean you can say they are abnormal. What defines normal? It is hard to judge, but I have a tendency to like being friends with these types of people because they are all very attentive. They have high expectations on beauty and in reality, love doesn't discriminate men, women, age or any boundaries, love is just one big event.

Romance nourishes life like care products do. Love is better than skincare or healthy products because it is able to give individuals a lift, even make the face firmer. All individuals need love. In the past, I solely concentrated on work, but as I got older, what I pursued changed. I really wanted to find someone whom I can share my feelings with daily. I visioned my future wedding, but because I'm not a princess, I didn't have any dream weddings. I am more of a practical person, I would be satisfied with just two hearts being together.

Definitely won't have children

My mom was always afraid I would be negatively influenced, but I really don't know how I would, personally, be negatively influenced?

I wasn't bad when I was young, so I shouldn't be bad when I'm grown. Today, my mom still treats me like a child, she's worried about everything. In fact, today I really do indeed have a lot to cherish. I will not easily learn about the 'bad', as they so called it, and then let things leak through my fingers. I don't want to do the things that my mom is currently doing now, so I definitely won't have any children.

First time in a race, Nick was already in an unfavorable situation even before the race started. It turns out he didn't have his seat belt fasten when the race was about to start and the staff had to help him. When the race started, Bosco and Kate were in the lead, but unexpectedly on the second lap, Nick lost control of his car, crashed into Bosco's rear and then on the hood of Kate's car. Ultimately, the three of them were stuck on the race course. The hood on the left side of Kate's car caved in, while Bosco's car suffered from serious damages. Fortunately, both drivers were not injured, but were out of the race.

There was a dent near the right wheel of Nick's car after the crash, but he still continued in the race. As Bosco's car was blocking the race course, a safety car had to lead the way on the third lap. However, Nick violated the regulations because he overtook the safety car's lead and went from last place to 4th place. Ultimately the male team made it in third place, but because of the violation, a 30 second penalty was added, which dropped them down to 8th place.

As for the female group, Niki Chow made it in second place, but because on the fourth lap, her car broke down, so she had to withdraw. Near the end, the engine on Stephy Tang's car broke too and the race was cut short for her. Results, Chin Ka Lok and Carlos Ng made it first and second place for the male team. The top three for the female team were Lee San San, Yoyo Mung and Stephy Tang. Although Stephy's car broke in the middle of the race, she still made it in third place because the other girls on the team crashed their cars.

Everyone teases Nick

When the metals were presented, everyone teased Nick. Chin Ka Lok laughed: "At first, I thought he was a pro, but it turns out he didn't put on his seat belt and was the first car that crashed." Kate laughed: "Before the race, Bosco joked he wanted to fight for last place with me, but then he actually jinxed it. Thank you Nick." Nick claimed: "This is my first time in a race, I feel really helpless and emotional. When the other cars saw me, they tried to avoid."
