[NEWS] Big Bang dances early in the morning for Japan

Big Bang had to get up early in the morning to perform for its Japanese fans.

An online community recently had a video posted under the title ‘7:00 a.m., Big Bang dances’. The video was from the April 4 broadcast of Fuji TV’s Mezamashi. (Watch video here.)

On the day of the broadcast, Big Bang had to deliver a splendid performance and perfect vocals early in the morning. Daesung especially stood out by approaching a male anchor to ask him to ‘put your hands up’.

After the performance, Big Bang said, “All of the members are happy that they’re on the show, but they’re still sleepy because it’s early in the morning.” The MCs also joked, “You’re sleepy but that performance was still great.”

Netizens left comments on the video such as, ‘Is that like dancing on Korea’s Morning Wide show?’, ‘Dancing early in the morning looks great but still it’s funny’ and ‘I burst out laughing when Daesung asked the announcer to put his hands up’.

Big Bang will be touring Yokohama, Osaka, Saitama and Fukuoka after starting off its Big Bang Alive Tour 2012 in Japan in Aichi from May 17-18. An approximate total of 130,000 fans are expected to gather for the tour.

[NEWS] Shinhwa members compare themselves to Big Bang and other idol groups

Shinhwa may have 14 years of idol group experience under its belt, but the members admit there are some things the second generation boy bands simply do better.

The Shinhwa members were guests on the April 5 open studio broadcast of Mnet’s Wide Entertainment News, where they were asked how they thought the group compared to the younger boy bands in terms of beastliness, dance synchronization, unconventional performance concepts and even in the members’ confidence in going nude.

During the ‘Shinhwa Up & Down’ segment of the show, the members were first asked to put their thumbs up if they thought they overflowed with more ‘beastly idol hormones’ than idol group 2PM and their thumbs down if they disagreed.

All of the members put their thumbs up confidently except member Andy, who said, “I’m not a beast. I’m just a dol (rock),” drawing laughs from the other members.

Dongwan added, “Like the phrase ‘beastly idol,’ the 2PM members are a mix of the beastly concept and idol [concept], but we’re just beasts. You can’t beat us.”

The members were then asked how they thought they compared to idol group Teen Top in terms of dance synchronization. They seemed less confident this time around, as all of the members except Andy, put their thumbs down, indicating they couldn’t beat the younger competition in this category.

Member Andy showed some tough love towards his protégés, putting his thumb sideways.

Jun Jin said, “Because we’ve been around for longer, in terms of feel, we may be ‘up,’ but I think we lack a little in terms of dance synchronization compared to the Teen Top members.”

Shinhwa was then pitted against idol group Big Bang on the topic of unconventional performance concepts. All of the members except Dong Wan put their thumbs up, indicating they thought their concept was stronger,

“We were just weird—because of me,” explained Dong Wan. (He's the one in the middle with white face paint.) “The members were, of course, cool. [But] Big Bang is really unique and cool.”

Finally, the Shinhwa members, who shot a nude spread early on in their careers, were asked how they thought they measured up to idol group SHINee, whose members recently made waves with their shirtless comeback photos, in terms of their confidence in going nude.

While the other members were all thumbs up, member Hye Sung stuck his thumb down, saying, “When we took the photo, as you can see, I stood in the back.” He continued, “Compared to the other members, I remember being embarrassed.”

The comparison segment starts around 5:50 in the video below:Source: Enewsworld.com, khj528@youtube

According to CJeS Entertainment on April 4, the band was mentioned on the Brazilian Web site of Billboard.com as well as in a Peruvian daily newspaper, El Comercio.

The Brazilian counterpart of the U.S music charts website Billboard.com featured special coverage of the Korean boy band on March 28.

Many artists went to support her including Felix Wong, Jessica Hsuan, Maggie Cheung, Kenix Kwok and husband Frankie Lam, Teresa Mo and her husband, Evergreen Mak, Carlos Ng, John Chiang, and more.

Although Mimi is already two months pregnant, she still went on stage to perform as usual. The first song she performed, was the song that got her famous Challenger ???, but during the song Mimi appeared very excited, having wide smiles on her face and waved to audience: "I finally have my own concert. Did you all just finished praying up in the mountains before coming to see me? I have to walk slowly now because I have a minor issue with my health. For every step I take, you all are more anxious than I am." Following her opening speech, the concert officially started. The concert was based on Mimi's growth and experiences over the years. She performed songs from the vinyl era until today, including Sam Hui's Wine and Song ???? and Difficult to Forget You ???, TV series theme songs Rainbow Round My Shoulder (1983) and The Fearless Duo (1984). When Mimi was performing, she also started dancing, but she clearly didn't dare to make any large movements.

Mimi revealed her 'career line' while singing, and claimed that its possibly going to be her only time: "I'm not sure if I'll ever have the opportunity to hold another concert again. This is my greatest limit to sexiness ('career line' reveal). (Were changes made to any of the concert segments due to her pregnancy?) For the majority of it, there were no changes. The staff are really afraid of me moving too much, but I don't really care, just want to share the course of events. Also, I basically don't have that many dances." She also didn't care and still wore high heels. She was only afraid she may forget and trip on stage.

Power Chan sends a sweet SMS to show his support

Mimi expressed her husband Power Chan is in Hengdian working and couldn't make it to the concert. However, he did send a sweet SMS to encourage her. It was the first time he wrote "I Love You". Mimi said: "He has never been a sweet talker, to praise that I'm beautiful." When asked if Power approved everything that happens in her concert? Mimi laughed: "I don't care about him. I know after becoming pregnant, I feel a small belly sticking out, so I told my costume designer to make changes because I don't want audience to vomit seeing me like that. I'm somewhat resemble the Roswell aliens." As for the bleeding that happened to her earlier? Mimi said: "Yes, I thought I lost my baby, but fortunately the doctor said the fetus still there. My doctor told me not to work too hard, but I have to complete these two nights first, so I could only tell my baby to hang in there!"

Peter Chan critiques Andy Lau's acting

Peter Chan Ho Sun in his new autobiography MY WAY critiqued the acting of Andy Lau Tak Wa, Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Eric Tsang Chi Wai and Jacky Cheung Hok Yau. He described Wa Jai's acting as "McDonald's hamburger" for general public consumption, everyone can accept it but it is no gourmet. Wa Jai spent 20 years to convincing people who did not believe in or like him to become the show business model of success.

Chan Ho Sun described Wai Jai to resemble Robert DeNiro. After finding a successful acting method, he kept repeating his successful acting method. Tsang Chi Wai's acting was good but could very easily be over (excessive); Cheung Hok Yau's personality was easy going, but at work he was the most stubborn. Speaking of Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing, Chan Ho Sun lamented, "He was the most qualified to become an outstanding director."

Julian Cheung does not avoid sex education with his son

The film SUNNY two nights ago held a Hong Kong premiere and attracted many industry insiders. Irene Wan Bik Ha and Julian Cheung Chi Lam both "left" their families and came with assistants.

Wan Bik Ha due to the new film postponing its production start would go to Macau with friends on this Easter holiday.

An avid film viewer, Cheung Chi Lam said that he supported recent hits A SIMPLE LIFE (TOH JEH), LOVE IN THE BUFF (CHUN GIU YU JI MING) and NIGHTFALL (DAI JUI BO). He was even happier to see Hong Kong film's return and hoped this phenomenon would endure until July or August when his film NATURAL BORN LOVERS (TIN SUN OI CHING KONG) will be released to explode. Will he take his son? Chi Lam said that his movies are very positive and meaningful, of course he will have to have show them to his son. He felt that he has not done anything that was shameful.

Chi Lam's wife Anita Yuen Wing Yi in HE IS A WOMAN SHE IS A MAN (GUM JI YUK YIP) had a chest touching scene with Carina Lau Ka Ling. Will he show that to his son? He said, "Yes. This film is quite a classic. My son matures very early and would know what he can touch and what he can't. He even knows what kind of person he can touch and what kind he can't. Actually I don't need to avoid subjects like that with children, as a parent being more natural is even better."

Wu Fung celebrated his 80th birthday by opening a show at Hong Kong Coliseum. Several of his god sons and daughters including Sandy Lam, George Lam, Nick Cheung and many more were guest performers. Leon Lai made a special appearance despite being ill.

Wu Fung is quite popular as it was a full house last night. His god sons and daughters, as well as his three grand daughters all went on stage to perform. HK media: Andy to apply leave from wife to attend HKFA ceremony

The 31st Hong Kong Films Awards will be held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on 15 April, since the day where the nominee list had been announced, it resulted several number of movie fans to “spitting at the list”, meanwhile when the nominees photographs were revealed, what’s puzzling is the entourage of Let The Bullets Fly which has 13 nominations was absent, not only Best Actor nominees Jiang Wen and Ge You, even Best Supporting Actress nominee Carina Lau did not appear in the group photo. In comparison, the nominees from A Simple Life were all at the center positions in the group photo, it seems that A Simple Life will be winning awards.

Different from previous years where group photographs of nominees of the same category, in this year’s magazine’s group photograph gathered the nominees in Best Director, Best Actor and Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Actress and Best New Artist. Those whom participated in the group photo-taking includes Ann Hui, Tsui Hark, Alan Mak, Felix Chong, Andy Lau, Lau Ching Wan, Shu Qi, Tang Wei, Gao Yuan Yuan, Zhou Xun, Wang Yu, Paul Chun, Lo Hoi Pang, Kenneth Tsang, Kara Hui, Qin Hailu, Guey Lun-mei, Jam Hsiao, Shiga Lin, Zheng Shuang, Karena Ng and Sheng Jian.

Other than Johnnie To who absent himself every year, all nominees from Emperor Group were absent. Let The Bullets Fly which is the hot favorite as it has 13 nominations was absent, not only Best Actor nominees Jiang Wen and Ge You, even Best Supporting Actress nominee Carina Lau did not appear in the photo shoot. In addition, Nicholas Tse who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in Shaolin also did not appear in the group photo. As Lau Ching Wan is nominated with Best Actor with two films, with the absent of Jiang Wen and Ge You, thus only two nominees of the Best Actor award appeared in the group photo. This could also be the reason that Hong Kong Film Awards changed its idea of group photo for the nominees of individual award category, because it would be indeed odd for two person for the Best Actor category.

Since without the group photograph of individual award nominees, in the past people would like to guess the “2 right” persons will win award does not exist. Worth mentioning is in this year’s group photograph, seated in the center are nominees for Best Actor and Actress – Andy Lau and Deanie Ip, both from the film A Simple Life, Best Supporting Actress nominee Qin Hailu who is from the same film is also standing at the back row’s center position. It can be seen that A Simple Life is the favorite among all favorites in this year’s award, looked like it’s fixed to win awards.

Currently, Andy’s wife is 7 months pregnant, expected to give birth in June. Being a loving husband, other than promotion for A Simple Life, he had stopped work completely, he had indicated earlier that he might absent himself at the 15 April award presentation ceremony as he would stayed home to accompany his wife. However, insider revealed to Hong Kong media that there’s possibility that Andy would not keep his words.

The Hong Kong media said that Andy had initially informed the Hong Kong Film Awards committee that he would not be attending the ceremony, but the committee managed to convince him and express that A Simple Life has high possibility of becoming this year’s biggest winner, this made Andy who is one of the film’s investor to have a change of heart as he decided to “apply leave” from his wife to attend the ceremony.

Annie Liu seriously draws the line with Kevin Cheng

Annie Liu, Chilam Cheung and director Patrick Kong attended the ending-of-filming celebration for new film Natural Born Lovers ?????. During the interview, Annie expressed without hesitation that it is impossible to develop a relationship with rumored boyfriend Kevin Cheng, she said: "I hereby clarify that nothing happened between Kevin and I. I say without holding anything back that Kevin and I have not developed anything nor will there be any possibility. The reports earlier, I feel like I was accused."

Annie also denied she's drawing the line with Kevin because he's got a new love interest: "I have limited understanding of him and I don't have that kind of romantic feeling for him." She also denied the reports that she was frightened by Kevin and his ex-rumored girlfriend Charmaine Sheh. She said: "This is totally entertainment news."

Chilam declined to comment on Jay Chou's verbal fight with the Taiwanese paparazzi: "Every individual handles the paparazzi differently. Perhaps I'm more positive, after several years, I have seen a lot and slowly I become part of them, a close relationship. Today, I'm not afraid to see the paparazzi, its like seeing a friend. I wouldn't feel upset or anything, and I understand that this is just the nature of their work. I'm also pleased to know that I'm still news worthy.

Chilam is a gentlman that doesn't lift a fist, and he also teaches this principle to his son Morton: "Years ago, I encountered an extreme reporter that deliberately tried to upset me, but my mood doesn't change too much. The current paparazzi are better, our relationship have actually reached a 'harmonious' stage."

Mimi Lo announced that she's two months pregnant with her husband Power Chan's child. She expressed perhaps its because she's initally too thin, so her stomach is already slightly swelling up. She laughed: "Right now I get hungry very fast. In the past, after I eat my stomach bulges up, but then it would shrink back. Now, it doesn't know how to shrink back anymore, haha."

In the group photo, the multiple award winning film – A Simple Life’s Andy Lau and Deanie were the highlight of the photo as both hot favorites showed off their ‘Chok’ look at the front row, occupying the center position, seated beside both of them were fellow Best Actor and Actress nominees Tang Wei, Shu Qi, Lau Ching Wan, Zhou Xun, Gao Yuanyuan, only Best Supporting Actor Kenneth Tsang was “promoted” to the first row. Miriam Yeung pokes fun at Shawn Yue's feminine performance

Linda Wong, Shawn Yue and Pang Ho Cheung demonstrate classic moves from the music video

The film LOVE IN THE BUFF (CHUN GIU YU JI MING) after five days in release already made 10 million at the box office. The film company immediately held a celebration two nights ago. Aside from the pregnant lead actress Miriam Yeung Chin Wa, other attendees included lead actor Shawn Yue Man Lok, director Pang Ho Cheung, boss Peter Lam Kin Ngok, Linda Wong Hing Ping, Isabel Chan Yat Ning, June Lam Siu Ha and Jim Chim Sui Man. Ah Lok's parody of Wong Hing Ping's DON'T ASK WHO I AM music video is spreading like a wild fire online. A music video duel between Wong Hing Ping and Ah Lok's versions was shown and had everyone holding their sides. Ah Lok even mischievously asked whether anyone from the record company was present. If the video could be shown at karaoke boxes, he would be able to win a "Golden Melody Award" and "Best Female Singer" award without any effort.

The pregnant Chin Wa said that originally her husband Real Ting Chi Ko wanted to attend as well, but later due to a business meeting she attended alone. She remembered the first film only made 110,000 in its first week, this time after five days it passed 10 million. She truly felt very happy. Since she was unable to attend the Mainland promotion and she had to eat anyway, even if she was less than mobile she still wanted to attend. Did she feel the baby was very lucky for her? She said, "Probably more strength! Actually the credit doesn't just go to one or two people, the script is written well and everyone performed well. (Would you let the baby perform if there is a third movie?) Hubby doesn't want him to be in the business when he will be so little. In addition he will not know how to react yet. I have worked with children on movies, at night they cried a lot. For pictures he should be fine, but let's see the script first!"

Ah Lok's parody made Wong Hing Ping's music video very popular. Chin Wa joked that the might of his cross dressing was like being topless. Some said that his impersonation looked like former rumored girlfriend Emme Wong Yi Man, Ah Lok said, "Don't take advantage of the situation!" Chin Wa chimed in and joked that his nose was a little crooked, that he could develop in many directions from here on. Would Ah Lok go out in his woman disguise? Ah Lok asked, "How? People would hit me after just a few steps, my face would be swollen by the end of the block!" Chin Wa also joked that being topless would not be as entertaining as his cross dressing. Ah Lok humbly said that he already did his best and was confident that the online hit rate would be the highest, even Eason Chan Yik Shun had to make room. He also revealed that when Wong Hing Ping first saw his music video she was frightened to tears, maybe because she thought he was "too pretty". Will he disguise himself as a woman again? He said, "I need more negotiation. If I have to again I have to charge twice and be nominated for both Best Actor and Best New Female Performer. Actually this isn't the first time I played a woman, it's just the first time that I played it so outstandingly."

Speaking of earlier claim that he was box office poison, did he feel validated this time? He said that he did not mind, since today the miracle drug might turn back to poison if the next movie would bomb at the box office. It would depend on what nourishment was being taken at the time and how the health was. Chin Wa wanted to change the subject and blamed him for always mouthing off around her. Ah Lok joked that was
embryo education. Chin Wa joked, "I watched the movie twice, I am really worried that as soon as he is born he would 'greet' me. All the uncles and aunties he would know are monsters. When you are dressed as a woman Hubby covered my eyes!"

In addition, playing Chin Wa's friends Chan Yat Ning and Lam Siu Ha became eye catching support. Chan Yat Ning's sharp lines even received great reviews. In the insurance business, she has not yet received more film offers. She would have no problem with foul language in the future either. Speaking of her repeating that line during the audience appreciation, she said that she decided to give her all long ago. During the shoot she was the happiest that she was able to become familiar with Chin Wa and Lam Siu Ha. Once an acting student of Chim Sui Man, Lam Siu Ha's performance even received praise from Chow Yun Fat. She laughed, "I want to thank him, Fat Gor is a Hong Kong actor who I like very much. (If a third film would be made, would you ask the director for a bed scene with you and Huang Xiaoming?) I haven't thought about it, I don't know whether such a character would be in the next one. I don't need such special treatments, let's wait for the director's arrangement!"

The 31st Hong Kong Film Award will take place on the 15th at the Cultural center. The organizers yesterday held a nominee photo unveiling ceremony and asked Best Actress nominee Deanie Ip Tak Han, Best Supporting Actor nominee Kenneth Tsang Kong and Best New Performer nominees Karena Ng Chin Yu, Shiga Lin Si Nga as guests. The event announced this year's lifetime achievement award recipient to be Ni Kuang (Ngai Hong).

First time posing for the program, Sister Deanie was very mischievous and joked that the photographer did very well as it was very difficult. She said with a smile, "The photographer got heavy handed and made me look too pretty!" Sister Deanie since last year has won many awards with A SIMPLE LIFE (TOH JEH). Yesterday naturally she became the focus.

Even though Sister Deanie has been in the business for years, she revealed that this was the first time she posed for the program. She said, "I didn't feel the shoot was tough." Sister Deanie said that the photographer normally often ran into pretty girls, this time running into her the shoot was highly difficult. "Because if they made me look old, they were afraid that I would scold them. However I said I should be old, I didn't expect them to be so heavy handed and made me look too pretty!" As for her fashion preparation, Deanie explained that she would mainly listen to the designer's opinion about how much to show. She said, "This time I won't mainly wear black as before, because my clothes required many adjustments." She said that when others wore long dresses they looked elegant but hers would drag on the floor. Sister Deanie also said that Her Venice Film Festival dress last year was adjusted a dozen times or so. She said, "As long as I feel it fits it's OK."

As for jewelry, Sister Deanie admitted that she left them in the hands of the designers and the sponsors. She said, "I would listen to their opinion." As for Ni Kuang's Lifetime Achievement Award, Sister Deanie said that although she has been in the business for years, she and Ni Kuang were not too familiar. She said, "Over 20 years ago (Winnie) Yu Tsang and I worked on a concert at Baptist (University), Mr. Ni and Mr. and Mrs. Yin Jong (Louis Cha) came to see us and even had dinner together. Since then I haven't run into him again."

In addition, Ng Chin Yu and Lin Si Nga werer both nominated for Best New Performer. When asked who their biggest competition was, Ng Chin Yu said, "I pick my company's Mainland colleague Zheng Shuang. She performed very well." She also said that both she and Lin Si Nga were models and had similar experience, thus they would support each other. As for what she would wear, Ng Chin Yu responded, "I hope for a long dress, elegant like a fairy." Lin Si Nga said that she has already watched all of her competition's work. She said, "I pick Siu King Tung (Jam Hsiao) and Sheng Jian. Siu King Tung's performance is very funny, Sheng Jian's acting was convincing." As for what she would wear, Lin Si Nga explained that she would choose either long or short dress.

In addition, Lifetime Achievement Award winner Ni Kuang yesterday did not appear, but he stated, "I am very happy and surprised to receive this award, thank you Hong Kong Film Award for giving me this award!" Charmaine Sheh betrayed before: Difficulty in Trusting People in Showbiz

TVB Queen Charmaine Sheh has been in the entertainment circle for many years and is used to seeing wind and rain, but she was considered a naive young woman when she first debuted. She was once betrayed by a good friend, that got her overly fearful of making friends in the industry. Since then, she was very cautious when choosing friends and didn't dare to trust anyone that easily.

Charmaine: "Many people believe it's hard to find true friends in the industry, especially for girls. After all there will always be competition. In this industry, I am pretty good friends with Catherine Chau, we are both very straightforward. For guys, my good friends are Bobby ([Au Yeung] and Timmy [Hung]. In fact, I was once betrayed by a good friend from the industry, this didn't happen in the recent years, it happened many years ago. I told [him/her] some things, but [he/she] went to tell reporters. Out of the blue, that friend used me to make news. Clearly the matter never happened, but because of that friend knew a lot of what has happened to me, so there was some truth to the report. It even sounds like it's all real! I didn't know what was going on, out of the blue the friend was on bad terms with me. I was on the headlines for several weeks.

Difficult to find Close Friends

At thet time I was really unhappy, especially because it was just a few years after I debuted, I was really naive then. Being betrayed by a friend, it felt like a thunderbolt hit me. At the time, we were really good friends! But after this incident, I haven't spoken to [him/her] for a long time, it's quite a pity. I feel pity because the relationship is already gone and I still didn't go resolve it with [him/her]. What if [he/she] records what you say?! [He/She] is harming you!

However, up until today I have talked it out with [him/her] and we are friends again! Nowadays when we see each other, we would nod and greet one another! Indeed, it is harder for me to trust those in the industry, really have to look at the person, I'm really afraid and will be more cautious when choosing a close friend. My current good friends -- Annie Man, Sherming Yiu, Angela Tong -- are friends I've been with in the recent years and have established trust.

Love Playing, Love Partying

I am a person that likes to play. One time I was out late partying and got photographed, but not of me drunk. Actually, once I drink, my face turns red. It doesn't matter if I just took 3 sips or 3,000 sips, it's the same. My face turns red because I have good bloodline and I can't drink too much, moderate is ok. I don't go out to play just because I need to vent, I just don't see a problem with going out partying. It's not like I'm not paying, just going out to chat with friends, very normal. No matter how big the issue is, saying it a 100 times isn't really an issue anymore."

Niki Chow puts up her 'Madam' attitude and scares away Italian pickpocketer

Niki Chow just completed all her jobs and is going on vacation to Europe for 2-3 weeks. She decided to travel to Italy with a female friend.

Niki has never been to Italy, with courage written on her forehead, she heavily sighs that the trip was upsetting. Niki and her friend don't know Italian, so they have been roaming around Florence in the past few days on a bus. She said: "I figured taking the bus to the final stop will be fine, and can even get a feel of how the culture is like there while I'm at it. I haven't taken the bus in like 10 years! No one knows me there, so I wanted to try taking the bus and subway, pretty good!"

However when speaking of her most frightening experience, was one night when she was out on the street of Rome, a place known for pickpocketing. Suddenly, a man grabbed Niki by the arm, and she immediately turned into a 'policewoman', she said: "That night when he grabbed my arm, the first thing I did was shout loudly 'ah'! Not sure if its because I just finished shooting Sergeant Tabloid, it's like I'm still a madam! My loud shout scared him away!" The friend who was with her, couldn't even give a reaction and the man already disappeared.

Although Niki encountered an unfortunate incident in Rome, the known enthusiastic Italians treated her with great hospitality, taking the initiative to treat Niki a meal. When asked if she had any one-nighters during her trip? She laughed: "They invited me out to drink, dance and chat!" She also went to see several of the local art museums and met an Asian artist on the street. He told Niki, despite already being married there, there is still serious discrimination problems. In a year, he's only able to sell just a handful of his artwork. When Niki heard this, she immediately purchased one of his artworks to support him.
