[NEWS] SNSD Yuri: Prepared 10 Years for Acting Debut

SNSD member Yuri has a dazzling performance in the SBS drama “Fashion King“.

Recently, Yuri had an interview with a Korean female magazine. Here’s translated part of the interview.

Yuri was wearing a yellow jacket, dragging the rack while talking on the phone. Her sudden appearance scared Yoo Ah In. She said to him coolly, “I don’t have time, get out.” This is the scene in episode 3 of “Fashion King” where the two first met. The lines of Yuri is all in English, while the last sentence, “get out,” perfectly expresses her apathy and irritability. She not only speaks English like local, but also conveys her feelings.

Yuri is unlike Tiffany and Jessica who lived abroad. “I’ve been thinking of waiting to act before I debuted, when I was a trainee 7, 8 years ago, I have thought of it for 10 years. I continuously attends the acting class and reads the script alone. Then, I feel happy I can star in a drama. I met director for 10 times before the filming started, because director did not know me very well, and has no way to identify my acting, so he gave me a lot of opinions. My biggest fear was to act using English. Anna is a famous and experienced designer in New York, so she cannot just smoothly speak, but also must attentively express the emotions. When practicing, I will use a tape recorder and camera to record and keep repeating the listening.”

Girls’ Generation member YoonA used to star in “You Are My Destiny” in 2008, Jessica also starred in “Wild Romance” recently. Comparing with them, Yuri who wanted to act and prepared for 10 years started relatively late. Unlike other members, up to the broadcast now, no one is criticizing her acting.

“It’s like my character, very similar to Anna, I want to show a more complete state. Whether it is in English, acting, singing and dancing, I want to show sincerity. In order to express this image, I must be familiar with it. And in order to become familiar with it, I have to keep practicing hard, I think this is why I spent a longer time.” Lastly, Yuri was selected by fans in MBC variety show “Show Champion” as the member of Girls’ Generation who has the best body. Even the members of SNSD also said, “We envy the healthy body of Yuri.”

Fitness instructor Sean Lee said in the SBS program “Victory”, “One members like Sooyoung has naturally born body, but the perfect body of Yuri come from her continuous efforts in exercising.” The choreographer teacher of SM Entertainment, Shim Jae Won said, “Everybody will stand on the stage to accept the teacher’s criticism in the end, if one doesn’t work hard, it will become their scars, even if this stage is their dream, there is no way to bring them happiness.” Even pop groups like Girls’ Generation also need to continue to grow to get everyone’s attention no matter where they are.

This is why Yuri’s words can not be taken lightly, “Although I look very attractive, but there is a lot of hardship on the painstaking road which others couldn’t seen, making me shaking and giving up, but I keep telling myself that this is only a temporary moment, I will stand up again. Because we get a lot of love and other things from everyone, so we have the responsibility to repay the love. This is why no matter how difficult or hard, I cannot give up, and which is why no matter how hard, we can get the strength to face it.”

In May, the autobiography-style film of SM is releasing, and Yuri wrote on her individual poster, “I can fall but I will not give up,” which is why Yuri, regardless of as singer or an actor, would succeed.

Saving General Yang sells well in Cannes

The over 250 million RMB investment SAVING GENERAL YANG (JUNG LIT YEUNG GA JEUNG) is Raymond Wong Pak Ming produced, Ronny Yu Yun Tai directed and Stephen Tung Wai choreographed the action. Adam Cheng Siu Chau played the Song Dynasty general Yang Ye who led his seven sons including Dior Cheng Yi Kin, Yu Bo, Vic Chou Man Yu, Li Chen, Raymond Lam Fung, Wu Chun and Fu Xinbo. The film has already completed its production and is in the post production process. Editing will take place in Australia, scoring in Japan and 1,265 special effect scenes will be done in Korea. It is estimated for an early 2012 global release.

The film investor Pegasus set up a sales office at the Cannes Film Festival to display the film's latest highlight and trailer. The grandeur of the Yang family battle against the enemy was brought to life and won overseas buyers' praises. Director Yu Yun Tai said that this film was the coolest Chinese film in his life. He was very happy and touched as he hoped this film will be distributed globally.

Stepping into the second day of the Cannes Film Festival, SAVING GENERAL YANG has already sold distribution rights to three places, Disney in Taiwan, M Picture in Thailand and Icon Picture in Australia. Lam Fung was very excited to hear the news. He said that he always thought Disney would only focus on foreign films or animation, he did not expect them to recognize the filial piety, loyalty and honor that were the most important to Chinese people and for young viewers to understand the nucleus value of this tradition. If not for work he would like to promote the film in Cannes and take some time off as well.

Gloves Come Off's "Lo Kut" (Henry Leung) challenges his father Kevin Cheng,

Since the broadcast of Gloves Come Off, the series has won public praises and this is the week of the finale. In the series, aside from all the boxing scenes, Kevin Cheng and his son "Lo Kut" father-son relationship has earned hot tears. Lo Kut's real name is Henry Leung (Chi Ho), a 10 years old who performs exceptionally well in school. He's one clever little boy, when memorizing his lines, he just looks at it once and his photograhic memory takes action. During filming, little Henry often bravely challenges Kevin in seeing who can memorize their lines and have the least NGs.

Lo Kut treats the set as if it was a playground and often gets sweaty from all the playing. He said: "My parents have to go to work, and rarely takes me out to the playground. It's been at least two years since I've been to one." Having such a good time playing, but once a family member says stop, Lo Kut behaves and goes straight back to his family and does not make a fuss at all.

Kevin has once described his on-screen son Lo Kut as '???' ('chyun' - a little cocky). He said: "If I had a good life, I would want a son with his personality. There will only be sparks with Lo Kut's personality and the outcome was great." Lo Kut is not considered cute, but he has a smart and clever look. Lo Kut will turn 10 in October, and is currently in the fourth grade. He's an excelled student, ranking fourth place in his class. He scores the highest in his class in general knowledge, mathematics and English grammer. He is also the SGA vice president and a leader at the library. In all, he's a leader in school.

When asked if Lo Kut likes acting? He answered: "It's fun." Then he suddenly exposed: "Only in the series I can have a Boxing King father!" What if he has to take a test in school, how does he study and film? Lo Kut gave an earnest answer: "I do all my homework at school and at home, study first. Then I can focus on my acting and shooting the series."

Competes with Kevin on who NGs the least

In Gloves Come Off, Lo Kut is an 8 year old boy, but he had always liked to play with his big brothers and sisters, so he has a great relationship with Kevin: "The first time I met 'Lo Dai' (or Big Brother) Kevin, he asked me: 'However you usually call your dad, just call me the same way!' I've actually started off calling him 'Lo Dau', but then somehow it turned to 'Lo Dai'. I still call him that now. He also told me to watch Chow Yun Fat's All About Ah-Long."

In the series, Lo Kut and Kevin's parent-son activity is to compete on memorizing lines. Lo Kut said: "We race to see who can memorize our lines the fastest, then we practice together and see who would get it wrong." Lo Kut's elder sister accompanied him on this interview, she said: "Sometimes when its time to start shooting, my brother is still playing, but then Kevin would ask: 'Your playing here? Have you memorized all your lines yet? The upcoming scene is very important!' Then my brother would answer him: 'Let's see who's going to NG first then?!' My brother is really good at memorizing lines, he practices with me once at home, and won't need to look at it again once he's on the set. Even if the lines change at the last minute, he won't get it wrong, so whenever my brother and Kevin compete on who NGs the least, he rarely loses."

Lo Kut's real father was at the side pointing a finger at his son, he laughed: "I don't know how, but he can even remember the long lines. Tell him to cry and he cries immediately. Before I didn't know he can act. He even exchanged phone numbers with Kevin, but we don't even have Kevin's number." Lo Kut expressed he and Kevin have been keeping in touch: "He would ask me how I'm doing on my homework and tells me to eat more! I call Lo Dai and set a meeting in June for Father's Day, but he's not going to be in HK. I told him I'll wait until he gets back to HK first!"

Three years ago, Lo Kut's mother had a friend recommend him to shoot a commercial, and since then a director spotted him. He has been in music videos, films, educational programs and on RTHK.

Jeana Ho loses attention due to her shrank figure

The Stephen Shiu Jr. invested film adaptation of a novel, YUT LO HEUNG SAI (A ROAD TO THE WEST) yesterday held a production start ceremony at the Cyberport. Female lead Jeana Ho Pui Yu led actresses from different places in attendance. Lead actors included Gregory Wong Chung Hiu, Justin Cheung Kin Sing, Mark Wu Yiu Fai. The actors at first appeared in "uniforms" then changed into swimsuits.

Jeana's figure reduced in size after changing in swimsuit. Angelina Cheung Woon Nga appeared in a zebra strip bikini and stole her thunder. When asked why her figure shrank and whether the implants were removed, she denied it and explained that she was sick and got thinner. She also joked that she was old and would not compare to others and her height made her pretty. Has she thought about "implant removal"? She said that she has not thought about it for now. If the burden became too much then she would. Currently she did not have any back pain and she was very pleased with her figure. In the film this time she would not perform in the nude. She would only practice Tai Chi and Wing Tsun as she joked that she would leave the nudity to other actresses. Another actress Shu Sum Yin celebrated her birthday and everyone presented a cake to celebrate with her.

All Round 2 Contestants

Yesterday afternoon, Miss Hong Kong 2012 second round of auditions was held at TVB City. After the first auditions on Monday, 62 of the contestants advanced to round two. Those contestants that had comparatively good quality remained, some where 'plastic' beauties. Kent Tong's niece, Roxanne Tong made it into round two, but she is faced with a strong opponent, 'Pirated Michelle Chen' (Christy), 'Board Face Annie Liu' (Cindy) and part-time model (Gloria). Roxanne was also attacked left and right by the media, that she got plastic surgery and likes to go out late night partying. Fortunately her father (Tong Chan Chung) has been supportive.

As Kent Tong's niece, Roxanne was the center of attention, with lots of negative news. Based on her old pictures, it was said there has been a change in her looks. In the past, she had a wider face, a flatter nose and lots of pimples. Roxanne calmly denied the rumors that she got plastic surgery: "Because I lost weight. I'm 20 pounds lighter compared to the old me. So, naturally there's a difference in my looks." She also said she rarely goes out for late night partying, and the pictures were from a friend's party. When asked if her father, Tong Chun Chung, opposed to her participating in Miss HK? She said: "My father loves me dearly, I don't want to miss out on this opportunity and regret it and my father is very supportive."

During the first audition, the contestant with the phoenix tattoo on her back was eliminated, but there are speculations that several of the contestants got plastic surgery done including 'Wuhan Viann Zhang' (Serena), 'Ruler Nose' (Carmen), Ashley, Moss and Nicki. Serena's face turned black when asked about the plastic surgery rumor; Moss touched her nose with her hands, implying she had no plastic surgery done; Nicki has a sharp chin, she said as if she's been wronged, she only had braces before and never plastic surgery.

Kenneth Ma sighs no one invited him to take nude photos

Yesterday Kenneth Ma a carnival event in Malaysia and demonstrated 'Teh Tarik' (Pulled Tea) live on the spot. When speaking of the recent male artist sex photo scandal, Kenneth said: "I've saw the reports too, and I just thought it was funny. But I didn't see my name on the list and felt a bit unhappy. I can say my body figure isn't that bad. Don't necessarily have to be a built and bulky guy, but still no one invited me to take nude photos."

As for the 23 year old female artist rape case, Kenneth does not understand why girls have to go to those places to drink. Even if it is a very close friend, still have to be careful. It is safer to drink in the comfort of your own home.

29 year old Mandy Wong innocently gets drawn into the 'artist rape case'

On Monday at midnight, a 23 year old female artist was raped at a Tsim Sha Tsui recording studio, where celebrities frequently hang out. Because of the female victim's privacy, the only information available is a description of the victims' characteristics and her identity has not been made public. Everyone is now speculating on who this female artist may be.

Aside from the public targeting 23 year old female artists, 29 year old TVB actress Mandy Wong has been one of the suspects. In the past several days, Mandy has been busy shooting series, yesterday she said over a phone interview: "Of course it's not me! That night, I was shooting overnight for A Chip off the Old Block II with Him Law. After work, I was exhausted and went straight home to sleep. Also, I don't know that person and I never been to the so-called recording studio." Mandy frankly expressed TVB has tried to get an understanding of the issue and there has also been many friends calling to ask if she's ok. Unfortunately she has been too busy with work and was unable to answer the calls. Her friends were extremely worried about her.

25 year old Cilla Kung, revealed yesterday that she has received many phone calls: "I have never participated in a beauty contest, and I won't go out to a recording studio in the middle of the night to chat with someone!" 20 year old model Sarah Chan expressed: "I don't work for TVB. Where if the case is true or not, both sides are responsible. Going to meet the opposite sex at their place at such a late hour, must be very careful."

Joey Yung alarmed got pats on thighs and hugs from a drunkard before

On Monday at midnight, a 23 year old female artist was raped at a Tsim Sha Tsui recording studio, where celebrities frequently hang out at. Because of the female victim's privacy, the only information available is a description of the victim's characteristics and her identity has not been made public. Everyone is now speculating on who this female artist may be.

Yesterday Joey Yung was at the radio station promoting for her new Mandarin song Just Right (??). She had once taken a photo with the owner of that recording studio (Lee Ming Ho), and frankly expressed she has read the report too. She was very shocked to have seen such incident and the first thing she did was to draw a line with Lee. She said: "I don't really have much of an impression on him. My assistant remembers him. (You took a picture with him before?) I don't know him. Often times, when I'm recording or rehearsing, the staff usually asks for pictures."

Joey admitted she has been to the recording studio of where the crime occurred: "I went there 2 or 3 times before. (Have you seen the sofa of where the crime occurred before?) I've sat on it before, but that was several years ago." Asked if she feels pity for the female victim? She said: "Girls shouldn't be getting drunk. (Apparently the girl brought the alcohol up to the studio.) There you go! Especially for girls, she is the one at a disadvantage. I only get drunk when I'm with a group of people I really know well." It was said the two persons involved in the case are good friends? Joey sighed: "Even if its a friend that you known for a long time, a male and a female alone together under the influence, [sexual assault] is something that can happen easily."

Asked if she had ever encountered a drunkard that tried to sexually harass her? Joey generously admitted: "Yes, usually drunk men are especially enthusiastic. They'll pat your thighs and give you hugs. I know how to dodge them now, avoid and be completely alert. The most important is to not make yourself feel uncomfortable. Don't be afraid that you'll ruin the atmosphere and not speak up. When he doesn't respect me, I don't need to respect him either. So girls should know how to dodge and avoid."

Male Artist Sex Photo Scandal - Him Law & Matthew Ko: Never taken nude photos before

Him Law has been said to be involved in a male artist sex photo scandal. According to the rumor, in 2003 when he was still working as a lifeguard, Him knew a man involved in sexual harassment and criminal intimidation cases (Lau Ting Sing). The report said Him heard Lau could help him get into the entertainment circle and even if he knew Lau likes men, he still didn't mind accompanying him everywhere. He also thought of him as a godfather. In between, he was even willing to shoot nude photos for his godfather and earn HK$60,000. Yesterday Him was back at TVB City to shoot a new series and stressed he does not know Lau nor has he ever done a nude photo shoot. He claimed back then when he was a lifeguard, he had a slim body, and it was impossible that Lau considered him. It is also impossible that he attended his dinner parties.

Him said: "It is not about the sexual orientation, it is I won't go to such dinner parties. As for me being a lifeguard before and how I entered the industry, I have mentioned it in several of my past interviews. It is public knowledge." As to the HK$60,000 reward for shooting nude photos? He expressed he definitely will not do such thing, and stressed over the last so many years he had only depended on his hard work to earn money. Innocently drawn into a sex photo scandal, does he feel really innocent? Him believes this is the nature of being an actor, so he cannot say he's innocent. He helpless said: "When no one knew me, I wanted news, but now that people know me, I have no power to choose my news." Him stressed he has never done nude photos before and the police did not contact him.

Matthew Ko is currently on break from a leg injury. When he learned he was drawn into the sex photo scandal by a magazine report, he denied he had ever taken nude photos. He also does not know Lau Ting Sing. He said when he was in Mr. Hong Kong, he didn't even have the courage to take off his shirt, so how can he take nude photos?! Even if someone contacted him for a job, he would meet them with his manager. He would never go to the meeting alone.

TVB executive Virgina Lok said she has not paid attention to the male artist sex photo scandal, but it is impossible that the case involves Him Law, Benjamin Yuen or Matthew Ko. They all have managers and are developing their careers well. No matter what job it is, TVB management will handle it. Why would they be so silly and go take nude photos? Virgina also urges youngsters who have an ambition to enter the industry, TVB gives several different opportunities to do. TVB has an Acting Training Class; If a pretty girl, then can go participate in Miss Hong Kong; If like to sing, then can participate in the singing competitions. These are the proper ways to enter the entertainment circle. Don't just believe what those so-called 'star recruiters' say on the streets, that they can help you get into showbiz. Even if there are star recruiters, then should ask a family member or friend to accompany you to avoid being fooled.

Adam Cheng complains about the intense kiss scene with Maggie Siu

Adam Cheng, Moses Chan, Maggie Siu and Aimee Chan attended TVB new series Master of Play's promotional event. At the event, a clip of Adam and Maggie's kiss scene was shown. Regarding this, Adam frankly expressed he was a little resistant to the kiss scene, but still performed the duties of an actor and also told his wife about the scene. Adam said: "I already said before I can't do it. I don't like it [because] it's not too good when you have a wife. However, the producer was very serious, so I lived up to my responsibilities as an actor."

Adam expressed that kiss scene was more intense than anything in the past, so he's worried viewers won't accept it. He laughed: "It is totally French style. We are lovers, so we do what couples do. All along, I had been resistant to shoot the kiss scene, and still feel a little disturbed now. (Worried your wife might feel disturbed?) Nope, I actually don't really do those kind of scenes, my wife is quite open, she knows that I'm just acting!" Adam expressed there were no NGs when shooting that scene and was completed very fast. He said Maggie was really professional, and quickly brought him into character.

Maggie laughed and said she wanted to kiss Adam for a long time now, she joked: "My acting doesn't compare to him! My lines aren't as great as his lines, so I can only rely on that kind of communication. (Felt good?) He's very good, experienced and quickly brought me into character. We both did it comfortably. (Do you have to tell your boyfriend about it?) Not necessary, after all it's just work. If there is dislike, next time we can just fake the kiss with camera angles! In fact, it's quite awkward for me too, no matter how familiar I am with the person."

When speaking of an actual couple shooting kiss scenes would be less awkward? Maggie frankly expressed it would be just as awkward. She said she talked to Aimee Chan about this before and she wasn't too receptive of the idea either because viewers won't believe it when reality is put into the acting. The best is to keep work and personal lives separate.

Yesterday at the promotion, the couple Moses and Aimee kept their distance and often grabbed Adam to stand in between them. Later, after several times of inviting the couple to take a photo together, they finally awkwardly took one.

Also, in regards to the 23 year old female artist's sexual assault case, Maggie directly expressed often times the man won't admit it. However, as of now the whole story is just one sided and there isn't any evidence. When Aimee was asked about the case, she expressed she heard the other staff mentioned it and expressed she's usually busy with work, so she rarely goes out late. Aimee said she likes to drink champagne more, but only likes to enjoy it at home. When asked if Moses would protect her? She said she will get a good friend to go out with her. Since childhood, Aimee has been taking Kung Fu lessons for self-defense and knows how to box, so she can protect herself.

Louis Koo is heavily insured to play Fire Fighter

Louis Koo Tin Lok and Jennifer Tse Ting Ting yesterday attended an electronic brand event. They attended as spokespeople and even introduced the latest music interactive platform. Ting Ting asked Goo Jai if it had his songs. Goo Jai said that it should have her brother Nicholas Tse Ting Fung's songs.

Goo Jai loved new technology. After becoming a spokesperson he seemed to have become a salesperson. Friends constantly picked up goods through him. Later, Goo Jai and Lau Ching Wan will work on a fire fighting film. He will play a fire fighter. Aside from fire rescue, the film will also have diving and building collapse scenes. Thus it will be rather dangerous. He will have to take a series of training and be heavily insured. Goo Jai in the past worked on BURNING FLAME (LIT FOR HUNG SUM) and understood about the certain dangers. Yet accidents sometimes would be very hard to predict. Reporters said that fire fighters inevitably had to display their fit physique. Will he work out? He said that he did not know know, but the wet performance probably would not appear in the fire scene. Reportedly a TVB female artist was raped at a recording studio, Goo Jai said that he had no idea. Has he heard about similar incident before? He said that when he stepped into the recording studio to sing it was already too much for him.

This year marks the Miss Hong Kong beauty pageant's 40th anniversary and the theme this year is "make an eye-opener for you". For this grand occassion, TVB announced earlier that shooting took place in London, in order to recruit more girls to participate in the contest. Today, the organizers held the first round of audition at TVB City with nearly 200 applications submitted. However, only 135 of them came to the audition.

This year's participants are indeed an 'eye-opener', poor quality and on average quite short; one of them only stands at 5 feet, 2 inches. There are only a few that have decent looks, while the majority of them are pretty 'keh leh' (weird looking).

25 year old 'Pirated Annie Liu' (Cindy) and 'Pirated Cherrie Ying' (Gloria) were both in white dresses, appearing clear and pure, quite a pleasant to the eyes. They were considered the most attractive across the board. However, the two were rather shy and were too afraid to speak in front of the media. 22 year old Wingto had been a model for 3 years and is experienced. When facing the media, she had no fear and knew how to pose for the cameras and put a sweet smile on her face. She responded to reporters' questions with simplicity. Wonder if it's because of the popular film You Are the Apple of My Eye that made (Christy) turn into the 'goddess' Michelle Chen, but Christy's white dress really displayed her young woman look. 'Mature Alice Ho' (Beverly) possesses a sweet body figure.

19 year old 'Wuhan Viann Zhang' (Serena) came all the way from Wuhan, she had white skin and her tight dress clearly showed off her body figure. Compared to the HK Girls, Serena's body shape is outstanding, but unfortnately she losses on the 'heavy international scent'. 'Pirated Liu Xuan' (KK) has big eyes, a high nose bridge, sharp face, but may have had some plastic surgery done and it was discovered she put on 'big eyes' contact lens. As for Nicki, she may have an upright nose and a sharp chin, but she does not look too natural overall.

'Pirated Kathy Chow' (Joyce) was extremely stern. She had on a tube dress, but had swimwear underneath, which gave away her flat chest body shape. 24 year old (Angie) hometown is in Hunan was very confident and did not put on any makeup for the audition.
