No Good Either Way's 'Fat Tenant' Mr. Diu Wins Recognition

Surprisingly Louis Yuen isn't the funniest in new TVB series No Good Either Way, it is rather Anthony Ho Yun Tung, who plays his tenant Mr. Diu. The fat tenant is absolutely the most eye-catching in the series, he always annoys Louis by asking him in his feminine voice: "You don't mind right?" Many viewers praised Anthony's outstanding acting. It turns out, Anthony graduated from a performing arts school and is famous as a comedian in the theatre industry. Next spring, he'll be participating in the theatrical melodrama It's a Mad Mad World as the pirated version of Lydia Shum.

It was said Jason is Moses Chan's successor as the next 'seun poon' (best deal), making Jason feel embarrassed. Why is it only guys can be seun poons, I'm filial and faithful, I'm a pretty good deal too!" Linda admires Jason most for his positive energy: "I came back to HK and have more negative energy. (Regret coming back?) Well no, it's rare to find a job that I like doing."

Linda's new series Witness Insecurity's promotional clips were said to be too violent and bloody, Linda said: "The promo clips were shot separately and should be unrelated to the storyline." Lau Ching Wan depends on his wife for fashion

Lau Ching Wan, Johnnie To Kei Fung, Wyman Wong Wai Man and others two nights ago attended an Italian label's new store opening party at Central. Ching Wan and To Sir rarely appeared at label events and the event immediately played the promotional short film for To sir.

Ching Wan said that To Sir's taste should not be underestimated. The fact was that he was his fashion direction. Even for sandals To Sir stipulated that he could only wear one brand. In real life, Ching Wan's wife was in charge of his clothing. He said, "Because I am very stubborn, I don't care too much about fashion. With my wife here my load is much lighter." He also said that he just finished Dayo Wong Chi Wa's latest stand up comedy short film. At the time only Chi Wa was on hand so he did not know who else would be in it. Would he be interested in directing a short film? Ching Wan said he would not, as he worried that if he would he would not be able to turn back. Later he will work on the new film INFERNO (TOH CHOOK SUN TIN) and play a firefighter. Thus he will be busy with physical training. The film will shoot on location in the Mainland and Thailand.

Shawn Yue cheers on the director over motorway success

The June 21 Hong Kong release MOTORWAY (CHEH SAU) in one day took in HK$1,021,774 and was the only film to break 1 million at the box office that day. Nine new films were released on the same day but MOTORWAY left them far behind at the box office. In second place was PROMETHEUS with HK$399,275 and in third SADAKO 3D made HK$303,599. Along with the past weekend's advanced screenings, MOTORWAY's total box office has already HK$2,194,381.

Yesterday morning when director Soi Cheang Bo Shui and Shawn Yue Man Lok learned about the box office performance online they were excited beyond description. In particular Cheang Bo Shui since ALIEN in the 70s has seen PROMETHEUS director Ridley Scott as his idol. Now his work surpassed his idol's, the feeling of which could not been written about. The director said that since the early morning he has already received congratulations from many friends. He was so excited that he could only respond, "Congratulations! Thank you!" He earlier did not dare to have too much expectation for the film. Now after the box office performance was confirmed, he described, "It's just like a dream!"

Currently working on a Mainland series, Yue Man Lok could not hide his surprise when he received the box office result. He immediately cheered on the director online and at the same time thanked all the friends who have supported and attacked him. They made him even stronger. he hoped the film will continue to perform better and better, at the same time he also hoped to make time to return to Hong Kong and celebrate. The other lead actor Anthony Wong Chau Sun was also felt excited but very humbly said, "I am not the male lead, it's just a guest starring role! It's because Yue Man Lok is so cool that the film performed so well. Of course the director deserved the most credit. He came up with the entire story, which was well made and had a lot of effort."

Wilfred Lau announces he's dating Joey Yung

[On.cc] Recently it was rumored Joey Yung and Wilfred Lau are dating. Today when Wilfred attended the costume fitting for CTI new series Second Life, he openly admitted to the relationship with Joey. He said: "I'm pretty happy now, we got together not long ago. (You had rumors with Denise Ho before?) Those were just rumors. (Will this upset Denise?) She was the first person I told. When Joey and I started, we were both single." When asked if Denise is upset with Joey? He said: "Ask her." When speaking of Joey's rumors? He said: "Just ask Joey. I don't know what capabilities I have, but I just want to do what a guy does, other pressures let me handle it."

[Singpao/Mingpao] It was said once Joey and Wilfred sparked, Joey's 'close friend' and Wilfred's ex-rumored girlfriend Denise Ho was upset. Denise wrote on Weibo: "Putting a knife in your heart effortlessly is often the person you thought you could truly trust. Then when these things recur in life, you can only admit that you were just too stupid." It was rumored Wilfred stole Denise's lover and thus she ended their friendship. Currently in Taiwan, Denise had no comment on their relationship. Many people responded on Weibo to encourage her.

Wilfred was asked if he's still friends with Denise, he said: "Denise is forever my best friend. Actually this relationship just started, Joey and I have known each other for many years, and you can say I know her well, she's a good girl. I haven't dated for 4 years and when I encounter a suitable girl, I start to get to know her more, of course she's good, many people like her and I really like her as well. (When did you start liking Joey?) This year, that's how fate is." When asked if Wilfred feels uneasy about Joey in a higher position (in showbiz) than him? He expressed confidently: "I'm a man, have to assume responsibility. I'm okay. (Already met the parents?) That's all I have to say today." But, recently on Joey and Wilfred's Weibo, the two really have gotten a lot closer because they often take pictures together. The latest one was of them at Bobo Chan's store choosing skins for their phones. It was understood, Joey didn't identify Wilfred as her boyfriend yet as their relationship has not developed into the stage where they can go public. Last night, Joey was initially suppose to work on recording, but suddenly cancelled the job due to feeling emotionally confused.

Joey's manager Mani Fok wrote on Weibo: "I had a wish all along, I hope our dearest Joey can find someone, just like us, a Mr. Right who truly loves her! Today, I received a lot of phone calls from the media. Here, thank you all for the concern and blessings for Joey! Taking this opportunity, I want to share with everyone that Joey and a friend are currently dating! Already at the selection stage! I hope Joey can finally encounter her Mr. Right and say goodbye to singlehood!" Joey responded on Weibo, thanking the good blessings and concern. Wilfred also started following Joey's mom on Weibo, getting ready for the 'mother-in-law policy'.

Manfred Wong reveals that Jet Li costs investors Millions

In recent years actor prices kept climbing, adding to the troubles of film investors. Often they suffered drastic losses. Earlier a Mainland production company boss due to failed investment committed suicide and sounded a big alarm for the film industry. Many directors like Feng Xiaogang and Lu Chuan criticized some actors for excessive pricing. Two days ago, filmmaker Manfred Wong (Man Jun) and Mainland male star Huang Xiaoming attended the Shanghai Film Festival New Power Star Producer forum. Man Jun mentioned that high priced stars were not box office guarantees and that some stars last year charged 1 million last year but this year he wanted 10 million. Some also messed around with the opening price, "Out of the blue asking for 20 million". It was truly outrageous!

More and more upset, Man Jun even put high priced actors like Jet Li (Lee Nin Kit) and Shu Qi on the table. Man Jun first revealed Lee Nin Kit's price. "For FLYING SWORDS OF DRAGON SWORD (LUNG MOON FEI GAP) Lee Nin Kit charged 90 million. Finally the box office was 500 million, but I asked investor Yu Dong if it didn't star Lee Nin Kit. Yu Dong's answer was 'it might still make that much!' Lee Nin Kit's other film THE SORCERER AND THE WHITE SNAKE (BAK SEH CHUEN SHUEN) bombed brutally, its total box office didn't reach 200 million!"

In order to bring out that only when directors, scripts and actors worked together would they achieve good box office, Man Jun even cited a film that starred Shu Qi, Liu Ye, Chang Chen and Sun Honglei but bombed badly. On the other hand Feng Xiaogang used unknown actors when he made THE ASSEMBLY and made Zhang Hanyu a star.

Man Jun yesterday said, "I only heard about that, ultimately I wasn't the one who paid, how would I know how much he actually charged!" As for saying even with Shu Qi and Liu Ye the box office might not be good, was he afraid of insulting anyone? Man Jun said, "I only wanted to point out when a movie had good actors like Shu Qi, if the other area didn't coordinate the box office wouldn't perform well."

Rumored to be paid in tens of millions, Huang Xiaoming after hearing Man Jun's comments lamented that the market drove artist salaries high and unknowingly revealed Tony Leung Chiu Wai's salary. "Like the people going grocery shopping, garlic costs five (yuan), if it was sold for ten it wouldn't work; I couldn't possibly randomly raise my price, it still depended on the market. Brother Chiu Wai wasn't so expensive before because Hong Kong film only sold in the Southeast Asia market, but now it could be sold for several hundred million. Thus Brother Chiu Wai's salary reaching tens of millions wasn't excessive."

His film investment bombed at the box office, Xiaoming stated that he would never regret supporting good movies and praised Zhang Ziyi's investment SOPHIE'S REVENGE as a successful example. "I am not a successful example, but some would always die on the beach for those ehind them to have even better chances. I am willing to be the person who is sacrificed in front, I am not someone who can't lose."

Natalie Tong: Jason Chan didn't dare to touch or kiss me

In TVB new series No Good Either Way, it's considered Natalie Tong and Jason Chan first collaboration as a couple. In terms of entry into the industry, Natalie is Jason's "senior sister" (see jeh), but in terms of age, Jason is Natalie's "elder brother". However, Jason smiled and said Natalie often gave him advice when they were filming, she's very attentive and knows how to look after people. When asked if she's his cup of tea? Jason laughed: "Pretty ok! (Did you two take it a step further?) No! We are friends, sometimes we go out for dinner, it's better with more friends, more to talk about! I really admire her, she's very into her work and is attentive."

Natalie Feels Jason's nervousness

Jason is full of praises for Natalie, but this See Jeh teases him, exposing that he's extremely shy for the kiss scenes. Natalie laughed: "I felt he was nervous. There was one scene about us already dating for a long time, so we hold hands and give goodbye kisses. I told him to give me a kiss, but he just kissed me on the forehead. I said no no, when we actually film, you have to kiss me on the lips! He was really shy, in some scenes where he has to sweetly please me, he didn't dare to touch me. I had to ask him back, can you just touch me? Makes me sound like a creep!"

Jason's like her first boyfriend

But, Natalie said Jason started out quiet, but he later turned talkative. She had to shout for him to stop, just like those overly active children. When asked if she likes 'cute big men'? She said Jason is like her first boyfriend, she said: "Actually his looks and personality are very similar. Although it's our first collaboration, I can easily find his strengths to like him. He's very attentive too, and knows how to look after others to make up for his deficiencies. He has a lot of potential. When we were filming, women 25 and up were just staring at him."

Leanne Li pretends to understand even when she doesn't

Recently Leanne Li got TVB's appreciation and takes on a lead role in new series No Good Either Way. She plays with 'sparks' with her boyfriend Wong Cho Lam's good friend Louis Yuen. As Leanne and Louis know each other very well, she laughed and said every time she sees Louis, she just wants to laugh. When asked if there were constant NGs during the intimate scenes with this good friend of hers? Leanne said: "He failed to pursue me in the series, so there were any intimate scenes."

Although it seems as if Leanne gave Louis a lemon, she actually really admires him. Aside from praising Louis as a person having the willingness to help others, she also exposed she and Louis think alike: "Each day when we get to work, after we greet one another, the next thing we say is 'What are we eating after?'"

In the past, most of Leanne's roles were either scheming, immature or rich girls. Leanne smiled and said this time she can finally return to being herself: "But, it is the old me. My role likes to enthusiastically to help others, very gentle and implicit. However, I'm not as gentle as before and I say a lot of 'rotten' gags now, so I did purposely think back of how I was like before." Leanne smiled and said thinking back when she first entered the industry, the greatest weakness was she often pretended to understand even if she didn't. She said: "Sometimes when we were chatting in a big group, because my Cantonese wasn't that good, sometimes I felt lost, but to fit in the circle, I would just smile and nod pretending that I understood. It's not too good to be like that. Luckily, a friend woke me up and said each individual are from different circles and have different personalities, I just have to be myself and relax."

Break ins at Ella Koon's brother company, Ella worried of his safety

Ella Koon and Kelvin Kwan attended the ALDO IFC store opening ceremony yesterday. Ella's elder brother (Jamis Koon) reveals on Weibo that the police came to his company with photos of criminals, advising everyone to be careful and clearly recognize the faces because they are the ones who broke into his company. Ella was unsure of what happened and she wasn't able to contact her brother. She just heard her brother say that there is someone who cheated his money. As her brother is not in the industry, she hopes the media will stop writing about him, he's already very pitiful.

Ella said her brother is having some financial issues, but it's not financial distress. Perhaps someone cheated his money, she is currently very worried that this issue may be life threatening. Ella hopes her brother can be more careful and play less with Weibo. When asked if she feels annoyed that she always has to respond for him? Ella denied: "My family is the most important asset, if something ever happens to my family, I would start attacking. It's not Man's duty to protect the family, it's Daughter's duty to protect the family. I'm a Cancer (zodiac), you can bad mouth me, I'm can handle it, but if it gets to my family, it's hard for me to control my feelings."

Ron Ng shooting 'Seasons of Love' Viann Zhang pretends to break up for publicity

Since Ron Ng fell for Mainland actress Viann Zhang, his fans strongly disliked the couple, but Ron still continues his deep love for her. Earlier Viann wrote on Weibo, once again implying that she broke up with Ron, but it turns out the news was fake.

Last night, Ron was shooting for TVB new series Seasons of Love with Iva Law and Lee Yee Man in Lan Kwai Fong. In the series, Iva, Lee and Kate Tsui all fall for Ron, but in real life, Ron only has his eyes for Viann Zhang. However, to keep his Siu Sang image, Ron refused to make their relationship public, leaving Viann without any sense of security. Earlier this month, Viann whined on Weibo: "Falling for a bad man will get you a painful life, you'll be worried and feel wronged." Weibo readers thought this meant they have broken up.

As for the break up rumors, Ron clarified: "We are fine." As to the reason for not making the relationship public, doesn't that leave Viann without sense of security? Ron denied: "I'm very open, optimistic and my level of openness is high." Ron also exposed Viann's message was just her feelings after she finished shooting a drama and for promotion of the new drama. When asked if Ron's keeping his relationship with Viann? He said: "Yeah, maintaining the relationship. Thanks for the concern." Ron expressed after completing Seasons of Love, he'll be starting Triumph in the Skies II. He said: "I'm not sure if I'm still Francis Ng's brother, but I know we'll be going to England and France for outdoor shooting."

Harwick Lau Hoi Wai and Mini Yang Mi starred in the film HOLD JU OI (HOLD ON TO LOVE), which yesterday held a trailer release. The venue was decorated like a wedding. When asked to reprise their proposal and kiss scenes, they appeared to be very awkward and declined in order to preserve their privacy.

The event gave a pair of wedding dolls to Lau Hoi Wai and Yang Mi and they used the dolls to kiss in their place. Lau Hoi Wai was unwilling to kneel. He said, "The privacy matter should be left for the important moment." However they could not help but hold hands and waists. Motorway premieres

The film MOTORWAY (CHEH SAU) two nights ago held its premiere. The film company applied for a road block near the cinema. Director Soi Cheang Bo Shui led Anthony Wong Chau Sun, Shawn Yue Man Lok, Gordon Lam Ka Tung, Josie Ho Chiu Yi and others to arrived in six almost HK$4 million luxury sports cars. Lok Jai was a car lover and said that he knew the car dealer sponsor. He already got his card in the car. He said that he has four vehicles now, two of which have not been operated for too long and could no longer be operated without repair. Reporters joked that he could get a girl to "start the car"? He joked, "Thank you for your concern! I will try to find a real one as soon as possible, don't bother writing about the fake ones."

Wong Chau Sun, Yue Man Lok and director Cheang Bo Shui earlier appeared on a TVB Entertainment News interview. Wong Chau Sun and Yue Man Lok not only discussed their new film MOTORWAY's production in detail but also their own private impression of the other. They have worked together on JUST ONE LOOK (YUT LOOK JEH). Ten years later they worked together again on the new film MOTORWAY. Chau Sun said that he felt Yue Man Lok's thinking was much more mature and was upwardly mobile. He was a very rare actor. Yue Man Lok admitted, "When I made JUST ONE LOOK I thought Chau Sun was very mean. I was afraid that he would yell at me. However, this time I no longer had that feeling. I felt Chau Sun was not as terrifying as described. He treated me like a son. We have more exchanges so he didn't have to remind me in a lot of areas."

Yue Man Lok said that Chau Sun was very in character. Constantly before the cameras rolled he was already in character. Everyday he drank sake until he was drunk and worked under the influence. Chau Sun defended that the character required it and he only had his mind on the role. He even joked, "My salary is low, I am a big extra in support Yue Man Lok. When accepting a movie I not only would look at salary, script and co-stars but also the set had to have few pretty girls. Then I can reduce trouble and distraction." In the interview Chau Sun even boasted that MOTORWAY will have decent box office. As for awards, Yue Man Lok admitted that he never won any film award before so he did not know how to answer. He pointed out that Chau Sun won so many that his arms were numb. Chau Sun struck back immediately, "If someone said 'Uncle Wong, tea's on me!' Would you viciously drive him away!"

Chrissie Chau suffers from personality split

Chrissie Chau Sau Na promoted her film PAPER MOON in Shanghai. Chau Sau Na played an innocent and a wild girl in the film. She said that in one day she changed many times and felt schizophrenic. Sometimes even she was confused and had to rely on her co-stars to be able to differentiate who she was playing. In the film, Gordon Lam Ka Tung and Tedd Chan (Tsang Kwok Fai) played Chau Sau Na's boyfriends. Both were tragic love stories. Chau Sau Na had emotional scenes and had to cry. The director praised her performance.

Chau Sau Na was no longer the flower vase but would not waste her sexy figure. When the team was shooting on location in Malaysia, due to the heat tank top and shorts were inevitable. "I have intimate scenes with both actors. Ka Tung's acting is full of experience and can bring me into the character, but his look had facial hair and long finger nails. He also had a dark tan, so getting close to him indeed was a little hard." In one scene Chau Sau Na rode on Lam Ka Tung's motorcycle and she was burnt on the exhaust pipe.

Simon Yam wants to swap Awards with Aaron Kwok

Aaron Kwok Fu Sing was working on the Mainland film MUK GIK (WITNESS) in Beijing. Yesterday he returned to Hong Kong to attend the Prince Jewelry & Watch award. He won a singing and movie award. The event also added a Father's Day "Father" Award that went to Simon Yam Tat Wa, but Yam Tat Wa joked that he wanted to trade his Father award for Sing Sing's movie award. Obviously man wanted Sing Sing to start a family soon.

Sing Sing despite a little hoarse voice was still well dressed. He said that because he had to smoke when he worked on Charlie Yeung Choi Nei's movie CHRISTMAS ROSE (SING DAN MUI GWAI) and he did not rest from the start of the year, he had some discomfort in his throat. For his health and upcoming concert tour, he already quit smoking within a week of the film wrap.

Yam Tat Wa received the Father Award, but on Father's Day he still had to work on a movie. He happily said, "Earlier during the shoot I injured my left cheek, my daughter already gave me a kiss and put on lotion for me. She also gave me seven presents, one of which was a sunflower. She said that Papa had to be happy at work everyday. She also asked me for a present. I asked her what it was? She said that she wanted me to take time off. During the summer vacation I will take three weeks off and go to Vienna with my wife and daughter. Next year she will give me 14 presents and I will give her six weeks off."

Tony Leung Chiu Wai runs from tourists

Tony Leung Chiu Wai promoted his film THE SILENT WAR (TING FUNG JEH) in Shanghai. His wife Carina Lau Ka Ling earlier reportedly took a private jet back from Shanghai with Mainland tycoon Jing Baifu. Wai Jai was reluctant to talk about his wife, was he upset about the incident? Wai Jai awkwardly said, "Why would I be upset?" Did his wife Ka Ling visit him while he worked in Shanghai? He joked, "Why would she need to visit?"

THE SILENT WAR was shot in Shanghai. Wai Jai said that normally he had a habit of running in Hong Kong. Thus when he had time he would run in Shanghai, but every time he had to be very early. Once he was running a tour group recognized him and someone screamed his name; to avoid causing trouble he could only ignore it and kept running. Later he ran with a cap to avoid being recognized. This time he attended the Shanghai Film Festival he still would run. Used to early to bed and early to rise, he liked to exercise even more as he felt more energetic at work.

In THE SILENT WAR Wia Jai played a blind hood, his fourth blind character. He agreed to the role because Felix Chong Man Keung and Alan Mak Siu Fai were good friends, but he has never worked on a movie that they directed together; he also admired Zhou Xun very much. Although he had experience with playing blind, the difficulty was increased this time with a special made contact lens. Since he would not express himself with his eyes he had to add a lot of body language.

Just For Fun: Jaycee Chan posts Father's Day photo

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

Cecilia Cheung is afraid of falling for Jang Dong-Gun

With three superstars Zhang Ziyi, Jang Dong-Gun and Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi, the romantic conspiracy epic DANGEROUS LIAISON yesterday appeared at the Shanghai International Film Festival opening ceremony and held a press conference today. Zonbo Media chair and DANGEROUS LIAISON executive producer and producer Chen Weiming, director Hur Jin-Ho, stars Jang Dong-Gun, Cheung Pak Chi, and Dou Xiao attended the press conference together. This was also the first time Jang Dong-Gun and Cheung Pak Chi saw each other since the wrap. They whispered and laughed nonstop and appeared to be extra intimate.

DANGEROUS LIAISON was based on the 1782 famous French novel of the same name. Chinese writer Yan Geling wrote the adapted script and moved the background to the 30s Old Shanghai. The film will officially be released on September 27 for this year's National Day slot. Chen Weiming hoped that its Mainland box office will be able to reach 500 million and the Chinese film champion of the second half of the year.

Korean director Hur Jin-Ho was a philosophical professional and a team recognized genius. Dou Xiao revealed that when he joined the team and played a game of chess with the director. The director very quickly understood the game philosophy and merged this feeling into the film.

Hur Jin-Ho said that Chen Weiming as long as three years ago Chen Weiming spoke to him about this movie. His Chinese was not great but he thought the film's theme was very meaningful. Being able to work with Yan Geling was a great challenge, so he had the courage to overcome the language obstacle.

Top Korean superstar Jang Dong-Gun attracted the media's flash bulbs with his trademark smile as soon as he appeared. Jang Dong-Gun believed that his character would be even more destructive to women. He was a rather dangerous man. This playboy looked like he was pursuing naive women for fun but actually longed for true love. He said that the most dangerous character in the film was not his character but Cheung Pak Chi's, even he was one her of play things (in the film). Cheung Pak Chi said that in real life she did not dare to look at Jang Dong-Gun's eyes because his every expression was very mesmerizing. Thus people often suspected that they were at odds.

Cheung Pak Chi said that this "game" in the film was not only hard on people but also hurt them -- her character originally thought she had victory at hand but she did not expect to lose everything. She thought lust and possessive desires finally directed this tragedy of this woman, thus "everything comes from the heart" was the key meaning that her character had to express.

At the 65th Cannes Film Festival that ended in May, DANGEROUS LIAISON was the only Chinese film that was selected for Directors' Fortnight and won good reviews. Cheung Pak Chi said that the pressure was larger from participating in the overseas film festival because the DANGEROUS LIAISON story was already very well known in Europe. Later he ran an old viewer who watched the 1998 film version. The viewer expressed to her how much she liked this Chinese film, which touched her a lot.

She even imagined her crush to be handsome, but in her mother's eyes he had a "pie face and sesame seed eyes".

Two nights ago a viewer asked whether Baby's first love was like the movie's. Baby said that her first love actually was just a crush, and his face was chubby and eyes were small. Her mother even described him as "a pie with a few sesame seeds on top", only she beautified him. As for her first kiss, she admitted that she did not remember how it happened but she definitely was not drunk at the time.

Was male lead Chiu Yau Ting her type? Baby praised him as a gentleman and revealed that before the kiss scene he deliberately brushed his teeth. When they kissed he tasted like toothpaste. Baby joked, "I thought, how deep do I have to kiss? Just a peck or do I have to brush my teeth?" Baby also remembered to "complain" to the director for treating Chiu Yau Ting too well, because the director designed many romantic scenes for him to pursue girls as well as a variety of embraces. Baby asked the audience whether they wanted to see her even more daring performance? The audience chimed in and she whined, "Are you setting me up!"
