Public Security prohibited Raymond Lam to go on stage; he apologizes to fans

The day before, Raymond Lam attended a real estate event in Guangzhou. Because there were concerns that his appearance will cause a confusion, so even before he appeared, his public appearance was already forbidden. Raymond requested that he personally go on stage to explain to Fans. However, the Public Security issued a warning to him, if he were to make a public appearance, then he will be prosecuted. Some fans who were unable to see Raymond were disappointed, and even blamed him for not providing an explanation. Raymond was only able to remain silence and take in the blame.

That day, Raymond was initially scheduled to appear at the event at 2pm to perform a song and play games with the audience. Some fans waited 9 hours to see him. However, the event opening was running late and the Public Security people went up on stage to announce that Raymond will not be appearing anymore. In fact, Raymond arrived prepared, backstage he waited 2 hours and was still not asked to go on stage. Eventually, the event was canceled. The reason the related parties gave him was that it was raining and there were high numbers of people. Raymond was helpless, and could only head back to HK.

Raymond expressed that afternoon at 2pm, he arrived at the parking lot of the event location, but no one told him to get out of the car. Until 2:30pm, someone arranged him to go backstage for interviews with the media. Still after the interviews, no one asked him to go on stage. He asked the sponsor about the situation and they expressed that because it's raining and there is too many people, nearly a 1000 people, so the event could not start. Until 4pm, the sponsor expressed that the Public Security was concern of causing a confusion as an explanation to cancel the event.

Raymond said: "Because I heard fans making loud noises, I asked to go on stage to say a Hi and a Bye. Just to reassure the fans and then I will immediately leave, but they didn't allow me to do that. The only thing I could do is wave goodbye through the glass door as I was leaving. I bowed and apologized to them. Before there was a time where the number of audience had to be reduced because there were too many. However, not allowed to appear on stage is the first for me. The day before, I came to Guangzhou to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony, there were nearly 5000 people, and the event still went on!" Although, Raymond didn't understand why the event was canceled, he respects their decision.
