Susan Shaw Yam Yam was a guest on Clifton Ko Chi Sum's ATV program. Actually before she got into the business she was a nurse in Taiwan. Later she came to Hong Kong and sang at night clubs, caught Bruce Lee's eyes and led to her audition. Bruce Lee once said to her, "As long as I am here you are here. You are very talented, I will definitely take care of you." Unfortunately soon after Bruce Lee passed away. For awhile no one paid any attention to her.Shaw Yam Yam said that she caught the attention of many in her life, like Ng See Yuen and Lee Han-Hsiang. Director Lee Han-Hsiang has the greatest influence on and inspiration for her. In the 70s Shaw Yam Yam made many movies, but many were erotic films. Thus she was called "sexy goddess". She said, "At the time many producers said to me the film company and the audience wanted (her to make erotic films). At the time when I read the script most had stories, but halfway through the directors would always arrange for some bathing or bed scene for me." Thus some called her a "stripping star", a title she was very resistant to. She felt the title was very insulting. She was angry at others and at herself, until recently when she won an award then she finally felt she was avenged and let go.
