Recently the supermarket chain ‘Park n Shop’ and Wayne Lai signed for another year contract renewal for Wayne as the main star for the company's commercials. Yesterday Wayne was busy filming for the another new commercial for the company. Although this renewal does not detail on using Wayne’s family in their shoots, the signed deal is valued between 20 and 30% more than the previous, thus Wayne will pocket near 6 figure sum just for this contract.With slightly bloodshot eyes, Wayne was filming at Lugana City Mall yesterday. He told the press that he has been very busy filming for the TVB series ‘Forensic Hero 3’ and only getting around 2 hours sleep every night. However, Wayne does not mind the tough life and the money making opportunities available.
This first part of the supermarket commercial will be starring just Wayne himself. He plays himself as actor and family man, going shopping for his groceries and cooking for his family. He revealed: “In reality, I am a family man, I like going to the supermarket as its very relaxing. I like to buy groceries and cook a nice meal for the family.”
During the filming, Wayne attracted many housewives to the venue and many enjoyed watching Wayne in action. Fans and shop assistants could not resist and asked Wayne for his picture and autograph. They call him ‘Sing Gor’ and ‘Chai Kau' which were characters which Wayne played. There were plenty of compliments given and fans yelled out to Wayne as being very ‘leng jai’ (handsome). In addition, female fans from Japan and Singapore came to see their idol and got their photography with Wayne and later left overwhelmed with tears.
In the recent 2 years, Wayne's’ popularity has grown tremendously and over Lunar New Year, he has been to Malaysia and U.S to participate in overseas shows. On 18th February, it was Wayne and his wife’s 14th wedding anniversary, however, Wayne was busy performing but celebrated with his wife back at hotel. They had a steak dinner and Wayne’s wife gave him a leather jacket as a present. Wayne did not have time to buy his wife a present and asked his wife to choose something for herself on him. When asked how he felt about his anniversary, he replied: “I feel strange. 14 years ago, my financial situation was bad and compared to now, there is a big difference.”
Wayne’s wife has been very supportive throughout Wayne’s career, accompanying him abroad when he is performing overseas. Wayne explained: “My wife and I have been together for 14 years and have been through tough situations. However, my wife has always been there for me.” Wayne’s wife sweetly replied: “I haven’t been through tough times. Marrying you is makes me happy.” Wayne feels that now that he is more popular, he will not just want to earn more money, but he would like to give something back to society. He also wishes to take care of his family and bring them lots of happiness in the future.
