Moses Chan turns down new series for dream coffee shop angering the Producer

In ancient times, there are Emperors that "dont love Country, loves Beauty'. In the modern day, Moses Chan 'loves coffee, gives up on the country'! Moses had always been obedient, but recently he unexpectedly turned down TVB new series Yuefu Hidden Dragon in order to be able to reach his dream of opening a coffee shop.

Loving coffee for life, Moses recently opened his first cofee shop in Malaysia. Initially, November of last year, Moses acceopted producer Nelson Cheung's 30 episode new costume series Yuefu Hidden Dragon. The series is scheduled to start shooting on May 1st, but last month Moses had already turned down the opportunity and the reason was because he needed a few months to be at Malaysia looking for places to open his coffee shop. He got approval by the TVB Artistes Department to let him go, forcing Nelson to accept it and replace someone else for his role.

Won't give up on acting career

Withdrawing from a series because of coffee, Moses accepted an interview and admitted: "I do regret not being able to take part in this series, but the schedule clashed, I had not choice. I know the producer is not happy about this and already tried as much as possible to explain to him and the executives. They know that I never turn down a series, so I hope they can understand. (Are you sacrificing your acting career for coffee?) Don't say it so exaggerating because after all, acting is my main duty. Opening a coffee shop is just a little dream of mines. (You have to look at the real estate and tuen down jobs, won't that be a great financial lost?) No....I will arrange it, but I definitely won't give up on acting."

As for TVB executive Virgina Lok, she felt very helpless over the issue, she said: "Moses took off from TVB, but it has not been formally approved yet. Initially he was going to take advantage of the two months of free time to start his coffee shop business, but the shop opening delayed and ended up clashing with the filming schedule. He asked the crew before if they could wait a month for him, but it is impossible for the studio schedule and the rest of the cast to accommodate one person, so he decided to tell the producer that he's withdrawing. I know Producer Nelson Cheung is definitely unhappy about this."

Coffee is Moses' life

Virgina also reveals that she tried to convince Moses that shooting series is the priority, but unfortunately she was not able to convince him: "Of course I tried to convince him, but every person has their own dceisions, coffee is Moses' life. He said before that coffee is his life career, to Mises, coffee really is more important than womem. So dealing with this issue, I am also in a difficult spot."

As for if TVB is worried that Moses is setting the example and other artists may follow? Virgina said: "I think other artists understand. This time Moses is not making up some random excuse, he is truly very concerned about his coffee shop. We all know he's stingy, but for the coffee shop, he does not hesitate to fly back and forth between Malaysia and HK several times for coffee."

Producer: Do not necessarily have to use Moses

[Sohu.com] Producer Nelson Cheung was asked if he accepts Moses' reason? He said: "I will not comment. Just if a person accepts this reason, then they will have to be responsible because if he or anyone else that uses this reason, other people will hear this and feels it's unreasonable. Since he said it, TVB had nothing to say, what else can I say. TVB is a production company, Moses does not necessary have to be in series for it to work.

Note: Yuefu Hidden Dragon is a costume series about Chinese folk song poems called Yuefu. So far we know the cast includes Myolie Wu, Linda Chung and Bobby Au Yeung.
