Kevin Cheng Eager to Start a Family; Yoyo Mung Considers Marriage Unimportant

In new TVB series, "Only You 只有您", Kevin Cheng Ka Wing and Yoyo Mung Ka Wai portray quarrelsome lovers. Kevin plays a slovenly and financially insecure photographer, while Yoyo plays a middle-aged woman greedy for money who was dumped by her boyfriend and unable to find a husband. At first, the Kevin and Yoyo’s character dislike each other. After experiencing numerous events together, the couple find a happy ending together.

Yoyo Mung Reveals the Female Heart

Kevin and Yoyo’s prior collaboration was in 2007’s Last One Standing "與敵同行". Due to the relaxed and easy-going script of Only You, Kevin and Yoyo developed a good partnership. Kevin praised Yoyo’s acting in several scenes depicting female psychology. Kevin said, “A woman’s inner mentality is often difficult to observe on the surface. If a woman does not get married by a certain age and become pegged as ‘leftovers,’ there is a great deal of pressure. Perhaps she may say she does not mind outside. I was quite moved by these scenes.”

40-Year-Old Kevin Cheng Craves Children

Entering the industry for twenty years, Kevin has turned 40-years-old in the blink of an eye. Despite reaching middle age, fortunately Kevin did not face the pressure to get married from his mother. He craved to become a father; as he grows older, there will be less energy to play with his children. However, finding a significant other was not easy. Kevin indicated that he did not mind whether the woman worked within or outside the industry. The most important factor was that they were compatible. An industry insider would understand the unstable work hours, while an outsider may not understand.

Kevin’s past ex-girlfriends and rumored romantic interests, Linda Wong Hing Ping, Niki Chow Lai Kei, Charmaine Sheh Si Man, and model Jenny Tsui, worked mostly in the entertainment industry. When the reporter asked whether Charmaine was compatible with him, Kevin replied carefully, “It’s hard to say. The most important is the feeling as marriage is about spending a lifetime together. IT is best to avoid making any mistakes.”

Since Kevin was currently looking for a wife and not a girlfriend, he was looking for a woman who had maturity. He hoped to have a simple family life after getting married and grow old with his wife. Kevin spoke about his vision, “Men have to cultivate the self, regulate the family, rule the state and the world. Currently, I am cultivating my self, as I will be filming topless for The King Boxer "拳王".”

Yoyo Mung Not in a Hurry to Get Married

Yoyo Mung said that not getting married was not a problem. Although having a significant other resulted in much happiness, many people only have their friends left towards the end of life. Yoyo believed that having good friends was the most important thing and she will not pass over her friends for her boyfriend. In Only You, Yoyo plays a wedding planner and meticulously plans her younger brother’s wedding. She noted that many couples obsess over their wedding planning. The series denotes a difference between having a wedding versus a marriage, a point worthy of reflection.

Yoyo added, “Couples will often experience clashes in their relationship. Kevin’s character is a carefree person and will spend all the money he has, while women consider security as one of the topmost priorities.” (Did Yoyo request that her boyfriend, Ekin Cheng, plan for the future?) “I did not have any special requests. Growing older, the process and experience itself is very important. This series delivers a message that having a good marriage was more important than having a wedding.”

Over the Lunar New Year holiday, Yoyo had a fever and vomited. Due to the holiday, Yoyo did not want to go to the hospital. Her boyfriend, Ekin Cheng, suggested that Yoyo play video games to “sweat out” her fever. Yoyo snapped at Ekin and asked whether he wanted her dead? When two people are in a relationship, arguments were inevitable. The most important aspect was that they were both happy in the relationship. When Ekin made congee for Yoyo, her heart was filled with joy.
